CAL FIRE LOCAL 2881 HONOR GUARD AT THE SACRAMENTO HIGHLAND GAMES

Another great day at the Sacramento Highland Games! The band placed 2nd in our grade in a field of 8 bands. A shout out to the Sacramento Firefighter Pipe Band for placing 1st today! We actually tied with them but Sac. won with the preference given to the ensemble judge who scored them a point higher. Another shout out to the San Francisco Irish Pipe Band who placed 3rd.

Piper Rick Hood took home a gold medal in piobaireached in his second outing after promoting to Grade 3 . Strong work in a large field of competitors!

The band also received the "Best Pipe Band in Competition" award from the games!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support us. It was great to see so many CAL FIRE faces and meet some prospective students.

Pictures to follow but it is too late tonight.

Cheers from a very proud Pipe Major!

FIRE STATION CLOSURES: "IN THE BOONIES BUT NOT NOBODIES," RESIDENTS SAY
CHICOER, 4/25/2017

The board voted to keep three rural fire stations open in the winter after their closures were suggested and try to make an agreement with Chico to get the city to fund Station 42. As it stands, if the city does not agree, the county's stance is it will have to close the station because of budget constraints.   READ MORE

KRCRTV, 4/28/2017

The CAL FIRE Shasta-Trinity Unit filled fire boots with monetary donations from the public to support people with muscular diseases.

The fundraiser kicked off on Friday at the Mount Shasta Mall in Redding.

Since 2008, CAL FIRE has participated in the national "Fill the Boot" campaign. They have raised a total of $3.6 million, according to CAL FIRE Fire Apparatus Engineer Kevin Aday.

"CAL FIRE has been associated with the FDA since 2008, too," Aday said. "And there have been three FDA approved drugs for neuromuscular diseases in the last six months."  READ MORE
