CAL FIRE Local 2881 Honor Guard was proud to participate in the California Firefighter Memorial service. The honor guard has participated, in one way or another, since the Memorial was dedicated at the State Capitol. The groundbreaking  and
si te   dedication for this memorial was the very first event for the Honor Guard with founding member Shep Shepherd, and pipers Pat Ward and Skip Sannar. The Memorial weekend and the Honor Guard have come a very long way since that day over 20-years ago.

Funding for the CDF Firefighters Foundation comes from a variety of sources. Our Invitational Golf Tournament, which is held on the Thursday before the California Firefighter Memorial, is the primary fundraiser for the Foundation. Other sources include direct contributions through Payroll Deduction from many of the CAL FIRE Local 2881 members, Royalties from the CAL FIRE trademark as directed by CAL FIRE Local 2881, donations from the Pubic and contributions received through Amazon Smile. In addition, we have partnered with the "No One Left Behind" efforts of the Fire Firefighter Cancer Support Network and are planning joint fundraisers that will benefit both organizations.

Aggressive fire  suppression
containment eff orts by firefighters ar e gaining ground and recovery efforts are already underway in some areas.
Suppression rep air is the first phase of recovery efforts to return the affected area to pre-fire conditions. Controlling erosion and run-off from fire suppression containment lines are high priorities for the Forest Service to ensure healthy watersheds.
