Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, enkindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

In the midst of the turmoil and uncertainty of the secular world, Christ Church Cathedral bears witness to things that endure. We are nurturing children, youth and adults in the deeper life of faith. Year-end, extra gifts, along with annual pledges, make this possible. Some churches are substantially supported by large endowments. Although we are blessed by the endowed funds that have been left us, 89 percent of the funds needed to support our ministries come from you. As you plan your year-end giving, please consider making a special gift: every gift makes a difference, and if you have not already done so, please make a pledge for 2020. Those over 70 ½ years old can make an IRA distribution directly so as not to incur capital gains. End-of-year statements were sent last week for those with a pledge balance. If you have questions concerning giving, please contact Financial Secretary Brenda Stanton at
bstanton@christchurchcathedralmobile.org
.
Pledge envelopes for everyone who requested them are on the credenza in the Chapter House vestibule. If you would like envelopes, please contact Brenda Stanton at bstanton@christchurchcathedralmobile.org.

In the past week nearly 1000 people came to Christ Church Cathedral to worship. Thank you to all who made our Christmas services so moving and beautiful: lay ministers and acolytes, choirs and instrumentalists, the altar guild, the flower guild, greeters and ushers, pageant leaders and participants, staff, and everyone who went out of their way to help visitors feel at home. Merry Christmas!

"Practicing the Presence" facilitated by Fr. Marshall Craver! A prayer practice is just that: practice. In this six week contemplative prayer group, we will learn about and practice six different prayer forms that will assist us in becoming more aware of and trusting in Christ's presence in our day to day lives. Come and join us each Monday in the Chapel, from 12 to I p.m., January 13 through February 17
th
. Everyone is welcome! Regular attendance is encouraged but not required. Come as often as you can, and leave each Monday with a prayer form that you can take with you and practice throughout your day.

In the beginning was the Word...Start 2020 with a renewed commitment to the Word of God. The Good Book Club returns for a third year with the Gospel of John. We'll read the compelling account-inspired by "the disciple whom Jesus loved"-during the time from Epiphany through Shrove Tuesday.
Of course, we are familiar with the most famous verse of John 3:16, but our Good Book Club focus gives us an opportunity to read the extraordinary gospel from start to finish.

The key elements of the Episcopal Cursillo Ministry are relationship, evangelism, and reconciliation in the home, the parish, the community, and the world. The Cursillo weekend is a time to experience living in a supportive Christian community. There are still spaces available for the Cursillo weekend in January so now is a good time to register. If you are interested in attending Cursillo, please let Dean Gibson know.
