470 Baby Chickens Saved a Little Girl with HIV

We strive to not only help address immediate needs, but also provide long-term, sustainable solutions. Recently, a grant to an orphanage in Kenya helped purchase and care for 470 baby chickens. Through the chicken project, these chickens produced eggs which both fed the children and were sold to make a profit! The organization was able to earn approximately $235 a month, which helped them care for 28 children in foster care and move toward becoming fully self-sustaining!
How the Chicken Project Saved Priscila

Priscila is 5 years old, HIV positive and requires daily medication. After her mother died three years ago, she was taken in by the orphanage and is currently in a safe, stable foster home. The income generated from the chicken project provides Priscila with a daily supply of milk for nutrition and healthy food so that she can grow stronger each day. Priscila has even started school and is doing well! All of this was possible thanks to one grant and 470 baby chickens.

Spotlight on our 'DO GOODERS!

GO Campaign is thrilled to highlight our passionate and determined group of monthly givers on a mission to bring real, immediate relief to vulnerable children worldwide. People like you, from countries around the world, giving a little bit each month, whatever they can, to prove just how powerful we are when we work together.

In the past year alone, our DO GOODERS have made the following possible:

  • Provided telehealth mental health services for vulnerable youth in South Los Angeles so they had access to counseling and support during times of increased racial tension
  • Provided food and hygiene supplies for street children in Kenya
  • Provided groceries and school supplies to families in East LA
  • Provided face masks to children in Senegal, Tanzania, and Kenya
  • Provided produce and vegetables to families in Watts who lost their income and ability to purchase food due to Covid-19

We can’t do this work without you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Want to become a recurring donor? Sign up here.

2020 Year in Review!

2020 was a year unlike any other we’ve seen in our 14 years of giving opportunity to children around the world. But thanks to our donors’ continued generosity, we were able to continue making tangible impact in 2020 and bring real and immediate relief to children and families hit hard by the pandemic. It was a year when the entire world was suddenly unsure of what we could count on in life. But we at GO could count on our Local Heroes and we could count on our community of steadfast donors.
