Fly Fishing Basics Plus (Registration required) 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Meet at Visitor Center
Enhance your fly fishing knowledge in this fly fishing plus class which will include a three hour classroom portion. Go more in depth on techniques and equipment. This class is best for those who have some experience fly fishing or have attended a Mueller fly fishing basics class. It is suggested that you bring your own rod to continue to hone your skills on the equipment you will use outside of the class. Pre-register online at cpw.state.co.us/events.

Learn how to fly fish and how it’s different from other styles like bait fishing, trolling, and spinning. Use your new or seasoned skills to try to catch a fish at one of Mueller’s favorite ponds. All gear is provided. Best for ages 10 and older. Wed, May 20: Cheesman Ranch Hike 1-4 p.m. Meet at Grouse Mountain Trailhead Get in some distance with this roughly 6.5 mile hike. See the many habitats in the park like forests, meadows and valleys as you pass the historic Cheesman Ranch and Dynamite Cabin.

*All hike and walk end times are an estimate and will depend on the pace of the group.
Remember: Spring can be a particularly sensitive time for wildlife, as many species are nesting, birthing young or emerging from hibernation. Colorado wildlife such as bears, deer, elk, pronghorn, moose, rabbits, foxes, skunks, raccoons, bats and birds will become more visible in backyards, open spaces and on trails.
Although it may feel like human nature to care for baby wildlife, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) wants to remind the public that wildlife aren’t pets and touching or feeding them can be dangerous and cause unintended harm. CPW wildlife experts advise the community to respect wildlife by leaving young animals alone so they can grow and thrive in the wild.
