CANDIDATES FORUM VIDEO!
October 6th the Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce hosted the Teller County and Colorado State Candidates Forum, bringing together candidates running for County Commissioner, Assessor, Sheriff, Clerk & Recorder and Treasurer. Additionally, candidates running for House District 60 and Senate District 4 which represents Teller County at the State House in Denver were in attendance. A standing room only crowd was in attendance to hear the candidates views on issues and policies.
Questions throughout the evening addressed issues affecting Teller County, including water and growth, wildfire preparedness, emergency response, property taxes, school funding, and the responsibilities of the Treasurer, Assessor, Sheriff, and Clerk and Recorder. Questions for the state candidates focused on how decisions at the Capitol affect Teller County, including property taxes and local services, unfunded mandates, school funding for both RE-2 and RE-1, water, wildfire insurance, rural emergency response, and access to health care. Candidates also addressed how they would represent Teller County when its needs differ from those of other communities in their districts. Candidates for county and state offices had the opportunity to explain how they would approach those issues, giving voters a clearer picture of their priorities ahead of the November election.

9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Meet at the Visitor Center (Registration required)
Unwind & immerse in nature’s joy & wonder through the healing practice of Forest Bathing/shinrin yoku. Join Forest Therapy Guide Jane for this peaceful 1.5 mile walk to quiet the mind, open the senses and connect with the land. Closing gratitude circle with tea brewed from local plants. Tue, Oct. 13: Cheesman Ranch & High Point Hike
9:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Meet at Grouse Mountain Trailhead
Get in some distance with this roughly 6.5 mile hike. See the many habitats in the park like forests, meadows and valleys as you pass the historic Cheesman Ranch. End with a short climb to the highest point in the park to enjoy beautiful views.
Wed, Oct. 14: Paper Basket Weaving Class
1-3 p.m. Meet at the Visitor Center
Use paper plates and colored string to create a piece of art while learning about the practice of basket weaving. Supplies provided.
Programs happen rain, snow, or shine unless posted otherwise.
