Visitors to the historic gold camps of Cripple Creek and Victor again have an opportunity to explore the region’s rich mining legacy through exciting modern mine tours that showcase both historic traditions and today’s large-scale gold mining operations. Set high in the scenic mountains west of Pikes Peak, the Cripple Creek & Victor Mining District remains one of Colorado’s most productive gold regions.
- Tours start promptly at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm - arrive 15 minutes ahead of the tour time for check in and safety instructions.
- No shows and late arrivals will not receive a refund.
- All children must be at least 5 years of age.
- Tour goers must wear long pants and closed toe shoes - no shorts or sandals
- All guests must wear hard hats, vests, and safety glasses provided by the mine.
- All tour guests must sign a waiver of liability.
- Pets are not allowed on tours.
- Tours are not wheelchair accessible.

Bears are hungry and currently on the hunt for high-calorie food as they begin to fatten up for fall. As drought conditions limit natural foods, you may see more bears seeking food in urban areas, including looking for easily accessible food in trash.
How Can You Help?
- Store trash inside a garage, shed, or other secure building whenever possible.
- Use a bear-resistant trash container - if available to you.
- Put trash out the morning of pickup, not the night before.
- Keep trash can lids tightly closed and latched.
- Never leave bags of trash outside or next to your trash can.
- Bring empty trash cans back inside as soon as possible after collection.

Lichens Hike

Meet at Peak View Trailhead
Lichens are everywhere, but they are experts at playing hide-and-seek. They look like crust on a tree or rock, but are actually tiny living worlds hiding right in front of your eyes. Come take a closer look and see what secrets they’re keeping on this 1 mile hike.
Campground Sing-Along
6:30 - 7:30 pm
Meet at the Amphitheater
Sing-along to some of your favorite and familiar tunes in this upbeat, interactive event while moving and clapping to the rhythm! Ranging from Disney songs to familiar Classic Rock tunes for the whole family to dance to & enjoy! Bring your ukulele or guitar if you play.

Guided Pond Hike
9:00 am -12:30 pm
Meet at Rock Pond Trail
Discover beautiful water features at the park. You will see 4 ponds in the park along with plants and animals that enjoy being near water. This is a 5 mile moderate hike led by volunteer naturalist, Rose.
Junior Rangers In the Forest
10:00 - 11:00 am
Meet in front of the Visitor Center
Explore the park's wilderness and wildlife, earn a Junior Ranger badge and collect a bear keychain. Come prepared to spend time outside. Children and their grown ups should attend together.
Sunday, AUGUST 23:
Fly Fishing Basics
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Meet at Dragonfly Pond Parking Lot
Learn how to fly fish and how it’s different from other styles like bait fishing, trolling, and spinning. Use your new or seasoned skills to try to catch a fish at one of Mueller’s favorite ponds. Bring a camp chair and water. Best for ages 10 and older. Equipment is available on a first-come, first-served basis. 21 spots available.
Story of Pikes Peak Hike
10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Meet at Elk Meadow Trailhead
Take in beautiful views of the west side of Pikes Peak on this 2 mile hike. Along the way hear about how Pikes Peak was formed, the people who’ve climbed it over history and how it became America’s mountain.
Big Backyard
2:00 - 3:30 pm
Meet at the Amphitheater
Discover what animals live in the park and how to identify them with their tracks and scat (poo!). This program is geared towards ages 5-12, but all are welcome.
Programs happen rain, snow, or shine unless posted otherwise.
*All hike and walk end times are an estimate and will depend on the pace of the group.
