THE GTA AM TOUR ENJOYS an incredible

golf day at

OSHAWA GOLF AND CURLING CLUB

Oshawa ON (August 25, 2014) - The GTA AM Tour was treated to something special today. Last year, this same event was cancelled due to severe weather conditions. It was the exact opposite today as could the weather could not have been more beautiful. The Tour hosted The Bright Blue Wave Challenge at yet another fantastic, private facility. Today, it was the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club.

Oshawa G&CC is a true hidden gem of the Durham Region and a classic Stanley Thompson design, where players find themselves aiming down well-manicured and undulating fairways, lined with hundreds of mature trees, terminating at small and challenging greens. With only 7 events remaining until the Tour Championship, players would have to play smart and putt with a steady hand on these very small and immaculate greens in the hopes of improving their standing on the all-important Myrtle Beach Order of Merit.

In the Championship Flight, carding a Tour season, personal best round, John Harrington (Ajax, ON) would capture his Tour-leading, fifth victory of the 2014 season. John would record one of those scorecards you keep as proof of an outstanding day. John, playing the course for the first time, would shoot a near perfect round, playing the course to perfection, carding only one bogie, three birdies and fourteen pars to fire an amazing sub-par round of 70!!! Alone in second today was Stephen Wright (Toronto, ON) who is coming off a second place finish last week at the LG Classic hosted at Lookout Point. Stephen turned in another great round of 74 today. To determine third place, card matching was required as two players would be deadlocked with matching rounds of 80: Jack Franklin (Toronto, ON), playing in his very first Tour event, and Shea Varty (Port Perry, ON), who was also playing in his first Tour event. When matching the last nine holes, Jack would take third place, having shot 39, over Shea who shot a 41. In the Championship Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, John Harrington would pad his lead to 232.5 points as he currently sits with 910 points. With his second place finish today, Stephen Wright moves up one spot, into second, with 677.5 points and, slipping to third spot, having not played today, is Peter Willis, who stands pat with 610 points.

In the A-Flight, the Tour would crown another first time winner of the 2014 Tour season. Doug McNeil (Aurora, ON), who has only seen his results get better throughout the season, going from ninth to sixth to fourth and finally, today, to win!!! Doug would card a great round, one where he would go from the fifth hole to the seventeenth scoring thirteen straight pars! He would finish his day with a round of two over par 74 that would result in a three stroke victory. Coming in second, for the second time this season, was Bryan Rothery (Georgetown, ON) who turned in a card with two birdies, nine pars and seven bogies, for a round of 77. Capturing his second top three finish of the Tour season, with a third place finish today, was Hugh Yang (Oakville, ON) who shot a round of 79. The A Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Meritremains the same week over week with Shavi Kahlon continuing to hold down the number one spot with a 117.5 point lead at 687.5 points. In second place is Matt Ward, with 570 points and, in third place is Darryl Scott, who has 500 points.

In the B-Flight, a return to the winners circle was in store for Bob Chapman (Toronto, ON) who last won on Tour at the final event of the 2013 season, the Tour Championship. It looks like Bob is gearing up for what could be a great Fall Swing as he would win by four today, turning in a score of 81, giving him his second top three finish of the season. Making it two, second place finishes on the season, David MacLachlan (Toronto, ON) played the round with a steady hand to card an 85 and take home another TaylorMade club for his efforts. To determine third place, card matching was required, as three players would all play to matching rounds of 86: Brad Golden (Toronto, ON), Chris Mulchinock (Stouffville, ON) and Andy Schwabe (Toronto, ON). When matching the last nine holes, two players, Brad and Chris would remain tied, having shot 43 while Andy had shot 46 and would finish in fifth. When matching the last six holes, Brad would take third place, having scored 30 over Chris with a 31, who finished in fourth. The B-Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, sees a big shift with last week's leader, Michael Cann on the move to the A-Flight, as a result of improved play. With Michael's promotion, everyone moves up a spot such that we now have a new leader in John Farrugia, who has 540 points and currently leads by 117.5 points over second place Mark Armatage with 422.5 points. Climbing in to the all-important top three spot, Brett Parry has 385 points.

In the C-Flight, Troy Langley (Uxbridge, ON), having already seen success this season by winning his first event at the Ultra 94 Premium, hosted at Taboo, won his second event today, turning in a steady round of 89.  To determine second and third place, card matching was required, as two players would enter the clubhouse with matching rounds of 90: Jay White (Huntsville, ON), who had his putt for a score of 89, roll all around the cup only to lip out, and Bob Sikorski (Toronto, ON) who continues to dominate the C-Flight. The result of matching the back nine scores would see Jay take home second place prizing, carding a 44 on the back, over Bob's score of 46. The C-Flight's Myrtle Beach Order of Meritsees a small change as Bob Sikorski's impressive lead, once again, shrinks by ten points as he sits with 747.5 total points to lead by 265 points. In second place is Krish Nair, who gained some ground today by finishing in eighth place. Krish now has 482.5 points and, in third, Robert Perri has 435 points.

Another one of the many ways to win on Tour is through Net Score competition. The net score competition is based on the net scores of all the players who did not place in the top three, gross winning positions in their respective Flights. The top two net winners at each event receive one dozen TaylorMade golf balls and one case (24) of Mill Street beer. This week's winners were Ian Ervine, with a net 69 and Robert Perri, also with a net 69. In addition to the season-long Gross Score, Myrtle Beach Order of Merit, players will compete for a parallel season-longNet Score Order of Merit. After 17 events, Mark Matusiak continues to hold down top spot with 629.5 and, in second, Michael Cann has 610.5. For complete standings click on the link.

The winner of the closest-to-the-pin from today's event the Bright Blue Wave Challenge was Bryan Rothery winning a dozen TaylorMade golf balls. Also at every event, there is a Mazda Hole in One hole, where all players shoot at a chance to win a $2,500 sponsor product shopping spree. This week's winner of the Hole in One closest to the pin was John Harrington Along with these prizes, Petro-Canada, TaylorMade and Mill Street Brewery products are awarded to the top 3 finishers in each of the four Flights. The Tour also awards a draw prize at each event for a $50 certificate redeemable at the Mill Street Brew Pub; the winner of this week's Mill Street Brewery Certificate was Ian Lederer.

Another new addition to the 2014 Tour prizing is an opportunity to win a $20 Ultra 94 Preferred Pricing gas card. A per-event draw will take place from all players who fire a score of 94. The winner of the Mill Street Brewery Challenge, Ultra 94 $20 gas card was Dick Freeborough of the B-Flight
