With CSU Pueblo honoring the school's 1961 national junior championship team this weekend at Massari Arena, the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame will recognize the achievement this week as one of the 150 significant moments in Colorado's sports history. The state’s sesquicentennial (150th) birthday is on August 1, the date Colorado was admitted to the Union as the 38th state in 1876. David Plati, the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame historian, has identified more than 1,930 of these moments, all listed chronologically by date to indicate their importance at the time. The Denver Gazette has partnered with the CSHOF to publicize Colorado’s top 150 sports moments. Plati and Denver Broncos icon Jim Saccomano will unveil the list weekly on the CSHOF podcast at coloradosports.org/podcast/. 1961 NATTY RECAP

At the halftime of Saturday's men's basketball game with Adams State, CSU Pueblo recognized the 65th anniversary of the men's basketball championships won by the school at the 1961 National Junior College Athletic Association's national tournament in Hutchinson, Kan. Being honored were Ron DeLeon (second from the left) and Lenny Roybal (second from right) along with John Wristen (left) and Dillon Martin.

The receptions are more than just an event, it is a chance to reconnect with CSU Pueblo, meet fellow alumni in your area, and play a meaningful role in welcoming incoming students who are preparing to call CSU Pueblo home. For many of them, seeing alumni who have walked the path before them makes all the difference.
