With the Men's & Women's Soccer teams and the Volleyball squad opening up the regular season on the road in the "Lone Star" state, with matches on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in Alpine, San Angelo, and San Antonio, the nationally ranked Football team hosts Central Missouri in the "Red Out" game at the ThunderBowl with a 6 p.m. kickoff on Thursday for what marks the earliest season opener in program history. Beginning its 18th season since the program's modern reinstatement, the Pack is coming off back-to-back RMAC championships. This Thursday night clash is a rematch of last season's thriller in Missouri, which saw the Pack pull off a 29-24 victory over the Mules.

FLASHBACK 50 YEARS AGO - Half a century has passed since the fall of 1976, yet the foundation laid by the University of Southern Colorado (now Colorado State University Pueblo) football team remains a milestone in the institution's athletic history. As CSU Pueblo honors the 50th anniversary of that iconic squad, it is time to look back at the team that changed the program's trajectory under third-year head coach Mike Friedman. The 1976 season marked a watershed moment for the USC program. Highlighted by a gritty, five-game unbeaten streak to close out the fall, the team posted a 6-4-1 overall record and a stellar 5-2 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), securing a third-place conference finish. More importantly, it delivered the first winning season of the Friedman era, proving that the Tribe was a force to be reckoned with in the region. READ MORE

The CSU Pueblo men's basketball "fall" alumni gathering is set for September 11 and 12. The second edition of "Hoops Homecoming", under the direction of Coach Zach Ruebesam, will feature a Friday evening gathering to introduce the 2026-2027 Pack, followed by a Saturday morning Alumni meet-and-greet at Massari Arena. The weekend ends with CSU Pueblo's RMAC football opener against Colorado Mines at the ThunderBowl at 2 p.m., with tickets provided. Stay tuned for additional details.

While the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Historian, David Plati, has created a list of more than 2,000 memorable moments in Colorado's history, Tim Simmons, the Colorado State University Athletics Historian, has worked with the legendary University of Colorado Sports Information Director to recognize 128 notable moments and 99 state high school championships in Steel City sports lore where individuals and/or events were recognized outside the city and county of Pueblo.
