SCACAP EARLY HEAD START-CHILD CARE PARTNERSHIPS (EHS-CCP) UPDATE
SCACAP Spotlights Early Head Start Child-Care Partnership (EHS-CCP) Provider
In each edition of The Hub, SCACAP shares best practices and spotlights these best practices of SCACAP's Early Head Start-Child Care Partnership (EHS-CCP). This issue of The Hub will spotlight two (2) of SCACAP's EHS Child Care Partners: Little Smurf's and Wright Way CDC. We are spotlighting these centers for creating an innovative way to continue delivering services such as Health and Nutrition Services and Educational Services to the children and their families of our EHS-CCP Program during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Little Smurf's, Georgetown County
Little Smurf's created "Parent Packets" to provide their families with the educational encouragement necessary to keep students engaged while at home. The packet includes a Teacher/Student Virtual Schedule, the EHS 2020-2021 Calendar, a newsletter, learning materials, and food/diaper care packages information.

The staff at Little Smurf's prepared arts and crafts materials such as crayons, markers, construction paper, and paint for the parents and students to work with while at home. The materials will be refilled as needed.
Wright Way CDC, Orangeburg County
Wright Way CDC delivered a food/care package to the homes of their EHS children and families. These care packages consisted of a snack bags, wipes, baby lotion, and more (see picture below).

A CALL TO ACTION REMINDER
Helping People, Changing Lives is Participating in the Census!
It appears census completion will continue through October 31! This is important in SC where we need more time to ensure every household is counted. For more information, please see here:

We understand that you have likely exhausted most of your community efforts and that’s okay. We encourage you to continue to share within your capacity and promote census completion. We still have a large amount of work to achieve a complete count in SC. The folks who have not responded yet are some of the most undercounted communities in our state. Anything that we can do to continue to lift up census completion as an important step to personal representation and securing critically needed resources for our communities is critical.

The legal battles over the census are not over and will continue, especially as it comes to determining the period for data cleaning to prepare for apportionment and redistricting. We will continue to provide you with updates as more information emerges.
