Dear Friends:

Jackson Health Foundation is fortunate to be the beneficiary of donors who give from the heart, seeking to make a difference in our community's health and well-being. That certainly describes the sentiments of George and Betsy Sherman, of the Sherman Family Foundation, who recently made a $1 million gift to support pediatric services at Jackson Health System. This thoughtful family made the gift in honor of Dr. Barth A. Green and the team that cared for George Sherman during his hospitalization.

Each year, we look forward to celebrating our donors during our annual Golden Angels Gala, one of our community’s most anticipated events. However, due to safety concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we thought it best to cancel the Gala in 2021. Instead, we hope you will help us create a new celebration by participating in a chance drawing benefiting our Miracle Fund, which supports areas of greatest need at Jackson, and Holtz Children’s Hospital. The grand prize is a two-year pre-paid lease on a 2021 Audi Q5 2.0T Quattro provided courtesy of our friends at THE COLLECTION/Audi. Please look forward to receiving more details about the chance drawing very soon.

We are always humbled by the energy and enthusiasm of our donors and those who go the extra mile by serving on Jackson Health Foundation’s Board of Directors. It’s a pleasure to introduce Matthew Grosack, one of our newest members of the board. Serving on our volunteer board is a labor of love for those who care about our community’s health and well-being, and we are thrilled that Matthew has embraced our Foundation.

Finally, have you ever considered purchasing a specialty license plate to support Jackson Health System? If so, we want to hear from you, as we are exploring the possibility of creating one to raise money for the Jackson Health Foundation. Please take a moment to complete the survey at the end of this newsletter.

Thank you for choosing Jackson. Through your philanthropic support, you make a significant contribution to our community, and we are incredibly grateful.

Sincerely,
Charmaine Gatlin

Sherman Family Foundation Donates $1 Million to Establish Pediatric Rehabilitation Services at Jackson Health System
Pediatric rehabilitation services, thanks to a $1 million donation from the Sherman Family Foundation.
We are so grateful to the Sherman Family Foundation for a generous donation of $1 million to establish pediatric rehabilitation services at Jackson Health System. The gift was made in honor of Dr. Barth A. Green and the staff at Jackson, who were instrumental in the care of George Sherman.

"The Sherman Family Foundation mission is to be supportive of education, particularly in the inner city, and especially directed toward children's health education and well-being," said Betsy Sherman, who, in partnership with her husband George, manages the foundation. "We are honored to be able to offer this gift of $1 million to establish pediatric rehabilitation services at Jackson Health System."

George and Betsy Sherman are philanthropists with a profound belief in the power of education to create better opportunities, healthier communities, and stronger families. Through their foundation, they make long-term, strategic investments in programs that are scalable and have compelling evidence of helping vulnerable, economically disadvantaged children and their families achieve better outcomes in all aspects of their lives.

"We are sincerely humbled and touched by this gift from the Sherman family," said Flavia Llizo, co-president and chief development officer at Jackson Health Foundation. "Through this donation, Jackson will be able to establish much-needed rehabilitation services for our young patients. Thank you to George and Betsy Sherman for their generosity, compassion and kindness. We are forever grateful."
Chance Drawing Will Raise Funds for Holtz Children’s Hospital and the Miracle Fund
Grand Prize is a Two-Year Pre-Paid Lease on a
2021 Audi Q5 2.0T Quattro from THE COLLECTION/Audi
Each year, Jackson Health Foundation hosts the Golden Angels Gala to raise critical funds for Jackson Health System. However, the Foundation is not holding the Gala in 2021 due to safety concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of an in-person gathering, supporters and friends are invited to participate in the chance drawing benefiting Holtz Children’s Hospital and Foundation’s Miracle Fund, which supports Jackson’s areas of greatest need. Please be on the lookout for more details about the chance drawing and your opportunity to win spectacular prizes – including a two-year pre-paid lease on a 2021 Audi Q5 2.0T Quattro from The Collection/Audi – coming to your homes in May.
