THE
MORNING
AFTER
Yesterday, Easter morning, I left the chancel to sit in the congregation to enjoy the "Sweet 16" young souls from the Sunday School who sang an Easter song for us. Sixteen kids who gave us a great Easter basket of song and love.
I had a blast when, at the end of my sermon, I stood in the pulpit and threw packages of jelly beans into the congregation to the cheering children and their cheering parents and other love-and-care-givers. Not one packet of jelly beans smacked an elderly person in the face. Thanks be to God. The choir did a magnificent job on their anthem, "Mary, Don't You Weep" and our guest trumpeter was, once again, marvelous.
Easter is the highest holiday of the Christian calendar. Christmas is sweet and cozy. The Transfiguration is strange. The baptism of Jesus is inspirational. And so on. But Easter is the reason we exist. Not joking. Not being dramatic. Easter is the reason we exist.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS
After the children showered the congregation with palms two weeks ago, we learned what happened to Jesus when he entered Jerusalem and made palm crosses for all of the children to take home (there were no free hands for pictures to be taken)
Easter Sunday, the children put on a great performance for the congregation. Thank you to Mr. Craig for your time with the children, and to the Sunday school parents for giving us extra time before and after service for practice.
Thank you Pastor Dwight for the surprise jelly beans they were a big hit!!
Blessings as Always,
The Sunday School Co-Directors
