MOTHER'S DAY IN A FUN & LOVING WAY

This coming Mother's Day will be celebrated on Sunday, May 14th, during the 10 AM service. Gifts will be provided for all mothers... and for every woman who ever had a mother! The Sunday school children have prepared a gift for all mothers. A reception follows the service. Please remember to bring a roll of toilet paper (TP) for our food pantry. Some cannot afford even that basic necessity. Share the love and the TP.

We presently live in an age when fewer and fewer people go to church. If our church is to survive and thrive we need to "not hide our light under a bushel." If you have any friends or relatives who would possibly enjoy a lively, lovely Mother's Day service with gifts to all mothers THEN PLEASE BRING THEM! This is an active, lovely, loving church. Let's be nice boys and girls and share with others!

See you on Sunday at 10AM!

Bless,
Pastor Dwight.

PERSON TO PERSON CONCERNS

Mickey Thom is continuing her recovery from a recent health crisis.

Barbara Bailey is a patient at Brookhaven Health Care Facility.

We have news from our Minister Emeritus, the Rev. Dr. Henry G. Wyman, and his wife, Sona, as they have a new address.  Moving from Bangor, Maine they are settling in at a retirement community closer to their family.  They are happy, well, and comfortable.  Henry and Sona would enjoy hearing from those who remember them during Henry's long ministry here from 1968 to 1991.  Their address is Fairview Estates, 132 East Main Street, Hopkinton, MA 01748, and their direct phone number is 508-625-2014

ALTAR FLOWERS

For May 14th are given by Verlin Worlow in loving memory of his wife Roberta.

WATER DAMAGE IN THE NARTHEX

Above is a photo of the recent water damage in the bell tower and narthex of the church.  If our church has been there for YOU in the past, either through an illness, death of a loved one, baptism of your child, a wedding, etc...NOW is the time for you to be there for OUR church.   Please consider making a one time donation to help with this repair by making your check out to Congregational Church of Patchogue, and write "water damage donation" in the memo section.  Together we can repair our church. Thank you to the following people who have made their donation:

FROM THE HISTORIAN

In the original oil painting of the third church building which presently hangs on the west wall of the Reception Room of the Congregational Church of Patchogue the following persons are identified: George Robinson, Mrs. Robinson, Phineas T. Robinson, Mrs. Robinson, John Havens, John Roe, Charles Hedges, Isaac Overton III, Mrs. Hedges, Rev. H. W. Hunt, Mrs. Hunt, Elisha Ackerly, Miss Libby Carter, Mrs. George Smith, Miss Amelia Roe, Mrs. Austin Roe, Miss Emma Roe, Miss Francis Baker, Mrs. Henry Baker, Captain Daniel Brown and Miss. Brown.

The church is the third of four churches built by the members of the Congregational Church of Patchogue and was located at what is now North Ocean Avenue and Lake Street. The third church building was dedicated in 1855 and served until 1893.

This portrait was painted by Miss. Clara Burd whose mother was a member of the Roe Family, members of the Congregational Church. Miss Burd used old photographs for the portraits and many of the costumes are authentic.

Bake Sale April 30
We did a great job at the bake sale. Thank you to Lucas T and Kyle P for their great job coordinating the little ones to sell at the bake sale. The children did such a great job! Thank you to all the families for the support and delicious contributions.

Mother's Day Art Show
The children will have beautiful artwork on display for Mother's Day. We have such talented children in the church. We are all looking forward to see how they display their talents. 6 children have already brought in their artwork and it is truly impressive! Please have the artwork to the church by 9:45 on Mother's Day to ensure it will be displayed in the reception room that day.

Youth Mission Trip
The youth of our church are ready to serve God during a mission trip that will take place in July of 2017. They are so excited to be able to serve others that they have already begun fundraising, the first was a car wash this past Sunday, to raise money for the trip.

Lemonade for Water?
When life gives you lemons....... Make lemonade. The children are doing just that. On Mother's Day during the art show the children will have their lemonade stand in the reception room. They did a great job two weeks ago under the direction of Karen M and Nico M. Their goal is to sell lemonade every two weeks to raise as much as possible to bring clean water to children like them in Africa. With your support they are off to a great start.

This is a truly Blessed and Busy time of year,
May God Bless your family this day and always,
