Celebrating Three Years of Dedication at Restore

In 2021, we had the privilege of shining a spotlight on Yinka in a video about his journey with TotalLink to Community. Today, we are thrilled to share that Yinka is on the brink of celebrating a milestone: his third anniversary at Restore Hyper Wellness in Evanston this coming March.

At Restore, Yinka’s dedication to his job shines through in every task he undertakes, from cleaning to doing laundry to re-stocking the refrigerator. He is a valued member of the Restore team.

“I like to work because it keeps me busy. I like being active and helping people." -Yinka

Stop by and visit Yinka and the team at Restore as they host the Cryo-Plunge event this March 1-3 at their Evanston, Northbrook, and Deerfield locations.

All whole body Cryotherapy sessions are $15 each, and all the proceeds benefit TotalLink to Community. See the advertisement below for complete details.

Thanks to our friends at I Just Am, the first 100 people to take the Cryo-Plunge will receive a free Cryo-Plunge t-shirt.

TotalLink's Art Programs: Creative Collaboration with Guest Artist Anastasia Mak

Several times throughout the year, TotalLink welcomes guest artists to our Art Lab classes. Our guest artists are professional artists from our community who come to share their art styles and inspire collaborative art pieces with our TotalLink artists. In January, we welcomed back Anastasia Mak - a Chicago-based expressionist artist who has collaborated with our artists before. Our artists were excited and inspired when we looked at Anastasia’s website together, and they soon devised a plan for the collaboration piece.

Together, TotalLink artists selected a color palette and subject matter that they were most interested in working on. The following week, Anastasia came to class with a 36 x 36-inch canvas that was prepped with the “Coastal Poppies” scene our group had brainstormed. Our artists enjoyed gathering around the canvas alongside our guest artist to fill the canvas with color.

Aside from learning how to work together to make a piece of art, Anastasia shared skills and knowledge, such as the benefits of using longer-stemmed paintbrushes for looser and natural-looking brushstrokes and how to layer shades of colors for maximum depth and beauty. This valuable artistic collaboration with a professional artist from our community promoted inclusiveness and provided an educational space for artists to create and grow. In the end, our artist made a magnificent piece of art.

"I'm so impressed by how fast the group can paint! They don't get slowed down by "what ifs" and self-doubt - instead, they get to work and make adjustments as needed, which I find truly inspiring. If I could adapt this kind of mindset to many of my other tasks, I would get a lot more accomplished!"

- Anastasia Mak, Guest Artist
