Finding Confidence and Community Through Employment: Michael's Success Story at ProAuto

Michael's journey to meaningful employment began with a desire to step out of his comfort zone and explore new opportunities. With the support of TotalLink to Community, he secured a position as a shop assistant at ProAuto in Morton Grove.

Michael immediately felt welcomed by ProAuto owners Julie and Lee Hardegree. Their positive energy and family-like culture convinced him to embrace this exciting new role with confidence.

Since joining ProAuto, Michael has gained confidence and discovered new strengths. His responsibilities include checking and filling tire pressure, maintaining a clean and safe workspace, monitoring inventory, and making bank deposits.

Michael’s dedication and hard work have made an impact at ProAuto. Brian, a co-worker, shared, “Michael has made my life easier by assisting with day-to-day tasks that can become overwhelming.” In return, Michael values the supportive environment, and shared, “Everyone at ProAuto is very friendly and welcoming. I enjoy working with my colleagues and being helpful.”

Crafting Connections: Flex Volunteers Join in on February Make Day Fun!

On a chilly February afternoon, TotalLink welcomed our new community partner, Flex—a global leader in manufacturing and supply chain solutions—to our Make Day & Game Time Meet-Up.

This event brings together volunteers from TotalLink and partnering organizations to create products for our Total Goodness line—perhaps you've spotted us at summer farmers' markets! Proceeds from these products support our programs, fostering inclusion and benefiting those we serve.

Teaming up with Flex, we crafted stylish acrylic bookmarks and love-themed gift tags, sharing laughter, creativity, and camaraderie. The fun continued with friendly games of UNO and Apples to Apples, strengthening connections through service, creativity, and shared joy. We're grateful to all our volunteers for making the event a success.

"Partnering with TotalLink was a unique opportunity that allowed us to contribute in a positive and inclusive way while engaging with everyone who attended. We as a team left with an uplifting feeling when our time was over for the day," shared Anne Elfering, Flex Executive Assistant.
