Reaching Career Goals -

A Spotlight on Levi

Accomplishing career goals feels great. A year after joining TotalLink's social and educational programs, Levi wanted to find a job working with kids. TotalLink stepped in to help, and in 2021, Levi landed a job with the after school program at Meadowbrook Elementary School in Northbrook, where he assists with activities and supports students.

Growing in your career also feels great. Levi wanted to work more, so TotalLink stepped in to help again. Levi's work experience made him a great fit for a teacher's assistant position with B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim (BJBE).

Levi started at BJBE in January and helps the teachers and students clean up, plays with the children, sets up activities, and ensures the students are safe. With this new position,he doubled his work hours to twelve hours per week, creating a meaningful life for himself.

“I really enjoy working at BJBE. I love reading to the kids, and my co-workers are really great.” - Levi

"It is delightful to see the excitement from the children when Mr. Levi walks into class,”

shared Susie Wexler, the Early Childhood Director at Congregation B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim.

Congratulations, Levi! We are proud of the life you are creating.

Art, Music & Heart

This spring, TotalLink is offering a virtual Art Workshop Series: Art, Music & Heart. The three-part workshop will expose artists to lyrics and encourage connections between words, emotions, and art.

Artists will read two contrasting song lyrics and then create an acrylic painting that explores the deep emotions they feel in response to one or both lyrics. The program will be led by Alex Bortell, a local artist, writer, and fine arts and writing major at the School of the Art Institute.

A Colorful Night on the Town

Last month, several TotalLink participants enjoyed An Evening with Watercolorist Ken Call offered by the Northbrook Public Library in partnership with the Northbrook Arts Commission. The evening included an interview with the artist, musical entertainment, and a reception.
