Employee Spotlight: Persistence and Resilience Pay-Off at Max and Benny's

After being furloughed from his previous job, John joined Max and Benny's in August 2022 as a table busser. He approached his new role with a positive attitude, earning praise from his employment coach, Drew Philips. "Being furloughed from his job was tough, but John has a fantastic attitude and was so resilient when he started at Max and Benny's. He always comes to work with a smile on his face," Drew shared.

John's persistence and resilience did not go unnoticed. Initially, he was scheduled for just two days a week, with three hours per shift. However, his hard work paid off, and his dedication was rewarded. Now John works four days a week, totaling 19 hours, which includes a busy weekend shift.

The President of Max and Benny's, Ben Schlan, shared, "John is a great asset to the team and is loved by the staff."

Working at Max and Benny's has become a source of joy and fulfillment for John. Alice Archabal, John's mom, summed it up beautifully, saying, "John has loved his experience working at Max and Benny's. He loves working with the entire staff and serving the customers. He is proud of the contributions he is making to ensure a great customer experience."

A Collaborative Masterpiece with Guest Artist, Curt Funke!

TotalLink’s ArtLab for EveryOne Program aims to spark artists’ creativity while immersing them in a wide variety of artistic mediums and techniques and fostering collaborations with fellow artists. Thursday ArtLab participants embarked on a special journey to create a collaborative masterpiece with guest artist Curt Funke.

Over four weeks, five artists intertwined their talents to conceive, design, and paint their work of art. With Curt, they brainstormed a theme, determined color palettes, and selected the perfect canvas. United in purpose, they began their collaboration, creating a colorful abstract mountainscape.

Guided by Curt, the artists explored underpainting techniques to create varying colors and textures while learning brush techniques. Each artist contributed their touch to a specific section, showcasing their strengths. Amara blended colors to paint the sky, Julie and Naomi created distant mountains and clouds, while Sam and Yinka detailed the foreground and other peaks.

As the artists completed the project, they left with invaluable gifts—a sense of cooperation, new skills and techniques, and belief in their artistic abilities. The collaborative masterpiece will be auctioned at TotalLink's Revelry Gala on November 3.

Pictured are Thursday ArtLab artists, Julie, Sam, and Amara working on the collaboration with our guest artist, Curt Funke.
