Thank you for spreading the joy of Christmas!

Volunteer with Matthew 25 Ministries

Matthew 25:35 for I was hungry and you gave me food.....

Matthew 25 Ministry was started at Our Saviour three years ago under the  leadership of Jennifer Karlowicz. During the past three years this ministry has  provided 100 bag lunches each Tuesday to those in need in Robbins. We are truly  grateful for our OSLC volunteers who pick-up unused baked goods from Panera  Bread on Friday nights, obtain food donations from Food Lion, shop for food and  supplies, initiate food preparation on Monday evenings, and complete and deliver  lunches on Tuesday mornings. Our 40 plus OSLC volunteers have benefited from  meeting and working with new friends. Laughter is a common sound coming  from the kitchen as we prepare for each week's delivery.

This past year the Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Robbins opened its  fellowship hall on Tuesday mornings to provide a welcoming environment for our  lunches to be distributed. This congregation supplies a prayer, beverages, and a  place for people to sit and enjoy their food as well as each others' company. We  are grateful to the Tabernacle volunteers assisting us with our feeding ministry.

We are in the process of scheduling volunteers for 2018. There are opportunities for additional volunteers for Monday evening and Tuesday morning meal preparation, Tuesday morning van drivers, Food Lion and Panera pick-ups.

Monday evening workers meet at 4:30 pm, and Tuesday morning workers meet at  9:30 am; both activities require about one hour of time. Van drivers arrive at OSLC  at 10:15 am and return at approximately 11:45 am each Tuesday. Panera  volunteers pick up food donations from Panera at 8:45 pm on Friday nights and  bring food to the OSLC Upper Room. Food Lion volunteers pick up food from  Food Lion on Highway 5 on Saturday mornings before 10:00 am and bring it to the  OSLC kitchen (requires strong back and pickup truck or SUV). Come join the fun  and be a part of this important ministry by serving on a weekly team or as a walk-  in or substitute volunteer. If you have questions or would like to join Matthew 25  Ministry, please contact Amy Hill at hillat7lakes@mindspring.com or 910-695- 5754.

Preschool Christmas Program

Well over 200 members of Our Saviour Church and Preschool family came out to support our little ones on December 10 for the Dinner and a Show. Donations were raised for both Matthew 25 and Our Saviour Preschool and fun was had by all! To learn more about how you can be involved in either of these ministries, please call the church office.

Confirmation
For our spring semester we will be tackling some of the tougher questions about our
life of faith.  Some of these questions include: "Why should I pray when God doesn't answer all my prayers? Can I be a  Christian without going to church? Why does God let bad things happen? and What if my friends aren't  Christian?" We will continue to meet twice a month at the church - please check your confirmation calendar for  our gathering dates.

Kids on Fire (3rd-5th grade youth)
During the second half of the year, our 3rd-5th graders will continue to meet with Lynn Antil and Karen Margolis on the second Sunday of the month from 2 - 4pm for service projects, fellowship and devotions.

Please save these dates for our get togethers:
  • January 14

Financial Update

At this wonderful time of the year, we are so grateful for the most generous bequest of $213,774.00 given from Ann Wilckens.   Ann loved her church. We were blessed by her ministry while she was with us, and we are thankful for all she continues to do even while she is gone.
