2017 Marks the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation

For almost five centuries Martin Luther's simple explanations of the Ten Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, and the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion have been a treasure for generations of Lutheran Christians.

The Small Catechism has given Lutherans ears to hear God's mercy in Christ and eyes to see reconciled neighbors in the places where the Spirit is leading them to service.

Today the Lutheran community of faith includes a rich and diverse choir of voices through whom the Holy Spirit can fire our imaginations with new passion for serving this message of God's forgiving and reconciling mercy in Christ. A world filled with yearning and hope for God's promise eagerly awaits the witness of God's people (Romans 8:17).

During this season of Lent, Lutheran churches across the country are participating in studies of the small catechism "With New Voices." A free app of The Small Catechism for iPhone and Android devices is available online. You are invited to incorporate the teachings of the Small Catechism into your Lenten Journey this year.

New feature coming soon!

  WELCA Penny Collection
This year's WELCA (Women of the ELCA) "Pennies project" will go to ELCA good gifts. The goal is to collect enough pennies to buy a FAMILY FARM ($715) which includes:

A cow, two goats, a dozen chicks, two pigs, farming tools, seeds and agricultural training and support. Eggs, milk and meat from the farm animals provide a lifetime of food to eat and sell on the market, helping a family escape the cycle of hunger and poverty - for good.

Thank you for your support! Every penny counts.

perform in concert at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church.

They will also sing in worship Sunday morning, March 5th. The performance is part of the Thiel Choir's 2017 spring choir tour. The Thiel Choir performs annually for audiences predominantly in the eastern United States and tours internationally every four years. The ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Michael Bray, reflects the diverse interests and disciplines of the Thiel College student body.
Thiel College is a college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and its 135-acre campus is located in Greenville, a community of 7,000.

The choir will perform a variety of sacred works by Hans Leo Hassler, Henry Purcell, Rene Clausen, Jean Berger, F. Melius Christiansen, Vincent Persichetti, Michael John Trotta, Knut Nystedt and Robert Wetzler, and arrangements of both American folksongs, hymns and spirituals. For this 500th anniversary year of the Reformation, excerpts from the writings of Martin Luther will help weave a narrative for our time.

Our Saviour Preschool Board Welcomes Two New Members, Pre-K Program to Start in the 2017-18 School Year
Two new board members have been appointed by the church council to the Board of Directors of the Our Saviour Preschool. Susan Gribben, a long time member of Our Saviour and retired teacher; and Rachel Steel, a former teacher and parent of one of our preschoolers were welcomed to their first board meeting February 22. The other board members are Krissy Yoder (chair), Patty Peeples (secretary),Caryl Moak (treasurer), Leah Higgerson, Travis Alfrey (council representative), and Rebecca Marchetti (preschool director). We are grateful to outgoing board members Bill Van O'Linda and Heidi Pittard for their faithful service.

Our Saviour Preschool is excited to add a Pre-K program next year, and preparations are already underway. Enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year has been a great success, and we currently have just one opening in the One Year Old Class as well as a few spots left in the new Pre-K class.  Our Two-Year-Old, Three-Year-Old, and Four-Year-Old classes are all full with waiting lists.  We attribute our success to our hardworking director Rebecca Marchetti and our talented teachers!

Our preschool students attend chapel on Tuesday mornings at 8:45am, and we give thanks to Larry Wolff for volunteering his time.  The kids love chapel time, and the teachers incorporate stories, music, and crafts each week that tie into the lesson.

If you have questions about the preschool program or would like to volunteer, please contact Rebecca Marchetti or Krissy Yoder.  Thank you for supporting this important ministry of our church!
Building a Christ-centered foundation for a lifetime of learning.

OSLC is looking for 4 people to share a faith talk at our Thursday evening Soup and Services, beginning Thursday, March 9. Pastor Linn will share his story on  Thursday April, 6

This is a wonderful opportunity to share with others what God has done for you in your life and how you have been a witness through Jesus Christ. As you reflect on the joys and sorrows of your life and construct your story, you will come out of the process more alive and more appreciative of God's grace and forgiveness. Remember your story, take time to construct it and find the joy in sharing your unique 'Special Story' of a loving God, who has been there and has loved you to himself. If you have any questions or would like more details, please feel free to contact Pastor Linn.
