Oh - what a night! Daddy Daughter Dance 2018

With 58 pairs of dancing feet on the dance floor, and smiles all around, the fourth annual  Daddy Daughter Dance was a huge success! A big thanks to all who  helped organize,  decorate and chaperone this event. The girls had a wonderful time - and we think the dads did,  too! Many donations to were made to Matthew 25 Ministry, meaning your generosity will continue to  feed and bring smiles to those in the Robbins area. We look forward to this event next year!

We still have a few spots in our PreK class for this Fall. If you know anyone with a preschooler that will turn 5 by  December 31 , please tell them about our preschool!

Come to Chic-Fil-a on Monday, May 21 anytime between 5 and 7 p.m.  Chick-fil-A gives the preschool a portion of the proceeds from that night...all you have to do is eat!

Come out and see our Saviours' preschoolers "Kids Under Construction" program on  Thursday, May 24th @ 6pm in the sanctuary.

Thank you to Matthew 25 for hosting a fun night for all the kiddos of Our Saviour at the Daddy Daughter Dance! There was a lot of singing, dancing and of course giggling!! Thank you for a fun evening!

Building Roof Maintenance

Over the last year the Property Ministry Team has been concerned with small roof leaks, seen by stains in ceiling tile throughout the church, a major leak in the area of the Preschool and other roof related maintenance issues. After trying a few fixes, we decided to bring in a roofing contractor to access the condition of the asphalt roof and the flat roof area above the offices. As you may recall the Sanctuary roof was replaced within the last 10 years and is still in very good condition.

Upon investigation, it was determined that much of the asphalt roof is at the full life expectancy. With that in mind, we asked the roof contractor for a recommendation. The recommendation came back to do light maintenance on most of the roof (new vent boots, seal up areas, pound and seal nail pops) and replace 8,500 sq. ft. of roof, from the courtyard breezeway to the other side of the courtyard. After the bidding process was completed, the Property Ministry Team made a recommendation to spend $22,500 for this work as Phase 1 of up to 4 phases to replace the roof over the next several years. The Church Council has approved this plan with the funding to come from the Capital Improvement Fund.

The Phase 1 work will be completed the week after Memorial Day and will take 2 to 3 days. This will not conflict with the Preschool since they will be out for the summer the week prior. If you have any questions about this work, please contact Jim Klug, Bill Blake or Bill Lindenberger.

Tom Adams visited The Castle Church!
The bronze doors behind me contain Luther's 95 Thesis and replace the original doors, which are available for viewing. The Castle Church and the church where Luther preached are both spectacular and still in regular use today. To see the churches and the converted priory where Luther lived was both an amazing and humbling experience....

Lenten Donations to Family Promise
Pastor Linn and Trudy Blake delivered the personal items and Lenten offerings to Family Promise this month. Soaps, shampoos, toothbrushes and other personal hygiene items were collected along with women's handbags. They were also able to present them with a check for $1,469 to be able to help meet
many daily expenses.

Many thanks to all that so generously gave to those that lost all they had in the fires in Aberdeen. A special thanks to Aimee Rotting, who graciously organized and oversaw the collection of donations, and to Travis Alfrey and Josh Haley who delivered the truckload of needed items.
