What a great blessing it was to share the joy of the season with so many of you on Saturday morning! The preschool students did an amazing job sharing the message of the birth of Jesus! My prayer is that as we continue through Advent we stay focused on the true meaning of this Christmas season.

As I enter each classroom and walk through the hallways there are signs of Christmas everywhere. It is a sight to behold! I hope that you are able to join us on Wednesday, December 13 for our Christmas Tree Stroll. We will begin at 8:00 a.m. with Pastries with the Principal in the lobby followed by an All School Chapel. Grandparents and other family members are also invited to attend. Finally we will fill the hallways as we stroll and sing.

The faculty and staff would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you so much for allowing us to partner with you in the education of your child.

God's blessings,

Linda Dehn

OUR SAVIOR LUTHERAN CHURCH would love to have your family join us during the Advent and Christmas season as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Below are the times for the services. If you have additional questions, contact the office.

PASTRIES WITH THE PRINCIPAL/CHRISTMAS TREE STROLL

On Wednesday, December 13 we will be having a great morning full of fun events! The morning begins at 8:00 a.m. with Pastries with the Principal. Come join Mrs. Dehn for some coffee and pastries in the lobby. At 8:35, we will join the entire student body for an ALL SCHOOL CHAPEL. Following the chapel you are invited to roam the school hallways as we sing Christmas carols during our Second Annual Christmas Tree Stroll. This is an opportunity to view all of the great decorations around the school and the Christmas trees that each class has decorated.

On Wednesday, December 20 we will have our final morning of festivities before our Christmas break. Join us at 10:15 a.m. in the Activity Center as we celebrate Christmas with songs and dances performed by all classes preschool-8th grade during our Christmas Celebration. This is a treat you will not want to miss. School then dismisses at 11:30 a.m.

2nd Quarter CHAPEL PROJECT- PROEMSEY FAMILY

OUR SECOND QUARTER OFFERING PROJECT IS COLLECTING FOR SCHOOL FAMILIES IN NEED.

We will be focusing on the Proemsey family. Mrs. Proemsey is our current 1st/2nd grade teacher. She has been part of OSL for many years. This is Mrs. Proemsey's eleventh year teaching here at OSL. She is also very active in the congregation where she has been a member for over 30 years. She teaches Sunday school, sings in the choir, and is also seen volunteering at many events around the church and school.

As many of you know Mrs. Proemsey's husband passed away from stomach cancer on November 29. We will be collecting to help the family with medical and other expenses during this time. Any funds that we collect up to $2,000 will be matched dollar for dollar! Another way to contribute to help the Proemsey family is by purchasing gift cards through our OSL program for gas, groceries, and food. Mrs. Keeve in the office has a list of those cards requested by the Proemsey family.

Our first quarter offering project ... COLLECTING MONEY FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR THE CHILDREN IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. We collected $558.00.

SPAGHETTI DINNER/SILENT AUCTION

Can you believe we are starting to plan for our 2024 Spaghetti dinner, January 27? PTL is already in full planning mode as this is OSL's largest fundraising event; proceeds from this night help fund all of the extra fun events throughout the year, the most notable event is field day at the end of the school year.

We would ask all parents to get their thinking caps on and see if they have any rare, cool auction items to donate.

Does your employer have event tickets?

Can you business donate a goody basket?

Do you have miles on your credit card waiting to be redeemed?

We are looking forward to a wonderful, family-filled night in January and we cannot wait to see you there!

JUST A REMINDER! KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME WHEN HE/SHE IS SICK!

Please use these guidelines, which are based on St. Louis County health guidelines, in deciding whether a child who is suspected of being ill should come or return to school.

Students with vomiting, diarrhea, or fever about 99.6 (prior to being given fever reducers of any sort) in the morning or 100 F in the afternoon are not eligible to attend school.

Students must be free of symptoms (that is, no fever, vomiting or diarrhea) for 24 hours before returning to school.

When taking a child to the doctor, it is helpful to bring a note to school from the doctor to show the child has been directly under the doctor's care for the given time period.

Students with COVID or directly exposed to COVID should follow their doctor's current directions.

Thank you for helping us keep our students and staff healthy. We appreciate your cooperation.

DRESS CODE - As it becomes cooler outside, look over what is allowed to wear indoors for K-8 students. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Dehn.

IN THE EVENT OF A SNOW DAY...an alert will be sent out on School Cues, posted on News Channel 2, 4, 5 and KMOX 1120 radio.

122 TARDIES in the month of November.

Remember school begins at 8:15 for ALL students 2 years old through 8th grade. All teacher assistants need to be back in the classroom to help the teachers at that time.

Try to arrive by 8:10 a.m. or before to give your child plenty of time to unpack and prepare for the day.

All instruction in Kindergarten-8th grade begins promptly at 8:15. This means the student is expected to be unpacked and ready to start the day.

STORE CARDS...Remember, these cards make great gifts for birthdays, graduations, thank you's, plus we all need groceries and gas. The Staff Wish List is now posted on School Cues.
