What an amazing month of February we have had! We began the season of Lent and celebrated Valentine's Day. Our focus throughout this Lenten season has been to talk with the children about the sacrifice that Jesus gave dying on the cross and rising again for them because He loves and forgives them.

We are so blessed that we can share this message with the children daily as we all make mistakes and need to know that even though there are consequences for choices we make, God's love for us is never changing. He will always be there for each and everyone of us!

Blessings as you prepare to celebrate the risen Lord on Easter morning!

God's blessings,

Linda Dehn

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP WITH THE NEW TARDY PROCEDURES! Our tardies have decreased by 40%!

While some of these were necessary for doctor appointments or traffic situations, it is important for us to find a way that our staff can begin the day effectively with the children that are here on time providing the least disruption to the learning environment.

We also believe that teaching children to be on time is an important life skill that will be very valuable for them in the future.

Thank you so much for your cooperation with getting your child to school on time. If you have any questions, feel free to contact

Mrs. Dehn or Al Haines, BOCE Chair.

SPORTS AND AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

OSL Campus is "hopping" with activities as we finish up a few clubs before spring break.

Our newest addition "Mad Science" has been a great addition to the OSL line up. Fifteen K-4th grade learners meet weekly to explore scientific topics that vary weekly.

Our boys basketball team hosted two home games. Thanks to all of the OSL families who came to cheer them on.

Aeroclub continues to meet and are still planning some spring flights.

Mr. Kaemmer has brought in some guest speakers to talk with the children about aviation.

Equations Club competed in two meets against other students from around the St. Louis area. Using problem solving and math skills these teams are assigned challenges to complete.

Yearbook Club is working hard to complete the yearbook to send to the printer so it will be ready for distribution.

NEW THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT OSL!

Thanks to a security grant we are able to do some upgrades that will allow some pretty awesome changes!

1) We have upgraded our phone system. We now have phones in every classroom.

2) We have installed intercom speakers throughout the building including the gym and upgraded our bell system.

3) We are in the process of changing our doors to a secure FOB/keypad system.

4) We are in the process of putting a welcome desk in the lobby entrance to greet visitors/guests.

5) The church sanctuary is also getting a facelift. We are currently holding chapel in the Fellowship Hall.

Does your child enjoy shooting hoops? Love creating and drawing? Want to try a new sport like football or field hockey? LuSo Summer Camp offers a variety of athletic and enrichment activities with morning and afternoon sessions available. From playing tennis to the trombone, we have coaches and instructors who offer positive reinforcement. Your campers will have fun while learning a new skill. Register today at LSlancers.org/summer

STORE CARDS...Remember, these cards make great gifts for birthdays, graduations, thank you's, plus we all need groceries and gas. The Staff Wish List is now posted on School Cues. Special thanks to all the families who purchased cards for our staff and their own friends and family.
