December 31- Children's New Year's Eve Party for Families - 10 a.m.-noon

This week has given me many opportunities to reflect on how blessed we are to live in the United States. We have the freedom to gather together and freely worship our Lord Jesus Christ without fear. On Tuesday, we had the freedom to go to the polls and make our voices heard. This month as I think about things I am thankful for, these two are top on my list.

Today we had the opportunity to celebrate and honor the men and women who served in the military as we celebrated Veterans Day. We served veterans and their guests a breakfast. After the breakfast the students shared some songs and poems of gratitude. We thank all veterans so much for your service. Check out our Facebook page to see pictures from the event.

JUST A REMINDER! KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME WHEN HE/SHE IS SICK!

Please use these guidelines, which are

based on St. Louis County health

guidelines, in deciding whether a child who is suspected of being ill should

come or return to school.

Students with vomiting, diarrhea, or fever above 99.6 F (prior to being given fever reducers of any sort) in the morning or

100 F in the afternoon are not eligible to attend school.

Students must be free of symptoms (that is, no fever, vomiting, or diarrhea) for 24 hours before returning to school.

When taking a child to  the doctor, it is

helpful to bring a note to school from

the doctor to show the child has been

directly under the doctor’s care for the

 given time period.

 Students with COVID or directly

 exposed to COVID must quarantine

 according to current CDC guidelines.

Thank you for helping us keep our

 students and staff healthy.  We

 appreciate your cooperation.

EXTENDED SCHOOL CARE - Please remember to check School Cues for your ESC balance. Payments can be made online or by sending a payment inside your child's Friday folder by cash or check.

NOVEMBER CHICK-FIL-A DAY is Tuesday, November 29. Order forms went home. Fill out and return by Friday, November 18. Payment can be sent in with the form or it can be made via SchoolCues.

MO Scholars Update

Have you directed a portion of your State Tax dollars to help fund scholarships for Lutheran Schools? Have you shared the exciting news with others about directing their tax dollars? If not, it is not too late to do so! Every dollar is going to support students in need and the Missouri District needs your help to get 87 qualified and waiting students over the finish line by December 31, 2022. Your support will help children in 23 Lutheran Schools learn about Jesus! Can you think of a better way to spend your tax dollars? https://mo.lcms.org/mo-scholars/

IT"S SPAGHETTI DINNER TIME!

Saturday, January 28

We need your help! Check out the flyer sent home with your child for more information.

Volunteers needed! Look for sign-ups coming soon!

Donations needed for silent auction!

Desserts needed for night of the event!

This is the largest PTL fundraiser of the year. The Parent Teacher League (PTL) supports the students, faculty, and families preschool through 8th grade by providing funds for classroom needs, special events such as field day, and support for parents through educational opportunities.

THE SCHOOL DAY BEGINS AT 8:15 a.m. Plan to arrive prior to 8:10 a.m. so that everyone can begin the day on time.

DROP OFF IN THE MORNING- Please drive slowly in the parking lot! There are many cars driving way too fast toward the back lot. We have people walking and riding bikes to school.

TARDIES - Oh my, we can do better. We had 84 in October. Our numbers are going up. We have had 39 already in November. Again, every time a student is tardy several staff members must stopped their current task to:

1) escort your child to class

2) help him/her get ready to start their activity in the classroom.

AEROCLUB TOOK FLIGHT! They will be receiving flight cerfiticates and log books next Wednesday, November 16 after chapel.

STORE CARDS...Purchase cards at no additional cost to you. $25 buys a $25 card. Our Savior receives a small profit on each card. The funds are used to purchase additional supplies needed throughout the year.

Staff Wish lists are now posted on School Cues under the documents box module.

AMAZON SMILE - Of course we have store cards fo Amazon but we can also earn some money for the school by using Amazon Smile and designating Our Savior as our charity recipent. It says 'church' on the website but the funds are deposited in the school's account. Last year we made almost $300. We have almost made that much this year already. Using the cards purchased through us and then using them to purchase your items pays us twice. YEA!!

LANCERETTE MINI-CAMP

Calling all 1st through 8th graders.

Join the Lutheran South Lancerettes for a basketball halftime performance!

Lancerette Mini-Camp is on Saturday, December 3 from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. in the Kuhlmann Center. The girls will learn a routine to perform at halftime of our first varsity home game on Tuesday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m.

The cost is $25 and includes a

T-shirt to wear for the big performance! Register at LSlancers.org/events

CHAPEL OFFERING- 2nd QUARTER

Our 2nd quarter offering is being collected for LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry. Last week we had a special visitor, Lancer. He is in training to become a comfort dog. His owners are the Haines family. Wyatt is in 8th grade at OSL and the Haines are members at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Lancer will be a comfort dog at Lutheran South, but will make occasional visits to OSL.  We have collected over $130 so far.

~ Important Information ~

MILK CARDS...can be purchased anytime. Cards are $8 and have 20 milks. We offer 2% white and chocolate fat free. Once a month we will also have strawberry fat fee available also.

INK CARTRIDGES...we recycle them for a small profit back to school. We will accept any small cartridges. The funds helps pay for some of our new technology.
AMAZON SMILE: If you ordered from Amazon please considered 1) buying your Amazon cards from us. We receive a percentage on each card we purchase. 2) Please make any purchases on Amazon Smile and click "Our Savior Lutheran Church" as the charity you would like a percentage of your sales to go towards. The school receives the Amazon Smile funds directly to our bank account. Using both these options allows us to earn a little extra money for the school. Thanks for your support.
