ADN Nursing Students Enhance Skills Through Simulator Training for Healthcare Simulation Week: Sept. 16-20
| |
|
This week NETC celebrated Healthcare Simulation Week (September 16-20). Second-year NETC Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) students took part in a series of hands-on training exercises designed to prepare them for real-world patient care. Led by Simulation Instructor Lori Rivers, the students engaged in realistic medical scenarios using a high-tech mannequin—referred to affectionately as Millie—who can blink, breathe, and display heartbeats.
Second-year ADN Students were guided through 45-minute scenarios in which groups of four to five students administered medications, checked vital signs, and learned to communicate effectively with doctors and families. By simulating high-pressure, real-life scenarios, these exercises are vital in bridging the gap between classroom learning and clinical practice, ensuring that NETC's nursing students are well-prepared for the challenges of the healthcare field.

Practice Makes Perfect:
Nursing Students Train in Sim Labs
| | |
|
During Healthcare Simulation Week, first-year ADN students gained hands-on experience in wound care through simulation training. The simulations provide an environment where students can practice assessing and treating various wound types, applying proper dressings, and learning infection control techniques. This innovative approach bridges the gap between classroom theory and hands-on practice.

Constitution Day in Marlboro Co.
|
Students at NETC's Marlboro Campus in Bennettsville celebrated Constitution Day by participating in the "Joining the Signers" event, an online platform allowing students to add their own signatures to a virtual copy of the U.S. Constitution.
This interactive experience gave students a chance to honor the Founding Fathers and reflect on the importance of the Constitution in shaping American democracy. By virtually "signing" the historic document, students reinforced the significance of civic engagement and their role in preserving the nation's constitutional heritage.

ID Badges: All employees and students are required to wear their college ID badges at all times while on campus. This helps us quickly identify members of our campus community and maintain a secure environment. If you do not have an ID badge, you can obtain one from the Enrollment Center this week M-Th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (AND you get a snazzy Trailblazer Lanyard or Retractable Badge Holder!!)
Parking Decals: Every employee and student must have a valid parking decal displayed on their vehicle. This is essential for campus security and parking management. If you do not have a Parking Decal you should obtain one from the Enrollment Center this week M-Th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. You will need your license plate number to get your parking decal.
3. Visitor Check-In: All visitors to campus must check in at the main office located in the 100 building. At community campuses, visitors should see the campus coordinator. Visitors will be required to show a photo ID, and sign in, to obtain a visitor’s pass. Please remind any guests or visitors of this procedure to ensure a smooth check-in process.
| | |
|
Employee Parking: All employees are required to park in the designated parking lot near the 100 building. The only exception to this rule is for employees with an accommodation on file.
Student Parking: All students must park in the designated 200 building parking lot. This helps manage traffic flow and ensures that parking is available for both students and staff in the appropriate areas. The only exception to this rule is for students with an accommodation on file.
If an employee or student does not have their College ID, a visitor's pass will be issued for the day. However, only two visitor passes will be issued per semester, after reaching the limit, there will be a $5 charge for each visitor's pass.
Your cooperation with these policies is crucial to keeping our campus secure and orderly. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out to campus security or HR.
Thank you for your attention to these important measures and for your continued commitment to making Northeastern Technical College a safe place for everyone.
