Happy new year!
Obviously, it’s not January, but the fall semester truly is a time for renewal and change.
Many of our Trailblazer "cubs" entered a school building for the very first time in August to begin the fundamentals of learning – ABC's and 1-2-3's – some of them are attending our very own Compass Point 3K and 4K programs.
At the same time, many adults are re-entering the classroom with some students continuing after a few months off from high school graduation while many, many others decided to change the direction of their lives after years of being inside a classroom.
NETC is full of amazing students. Each one of you has come from seemingly an infinite number of starting points.
For the mother of two in her early 30s who was a middle of the road high school student who now manages a 4.0 discovering her passion for learning, your enthusiasm remains contagious.
| | |
|
To the 20-something guy who wants to travel the open road leaving a series of entry level positions behind, the roar of NETC’s 18-wheeler diesel engine will get you to your destination.
Whether following a trail left by a parent, or motivated by compassion from a family tragedy, or fascinated by the science, there is a cadre of men and women entering all levels of nursing from NETC who are motivated to provide care and compassion to fellow man (and wolf).
Regardless of the path you took to get here, welcome. It’s great to see you here.
Sincerely,
| |

As we kick off the new academic year, it’s important that we all work together to maintain a safe and secure environment on campus. There will be a lot of upcoming construction at the Cheraw campus that will include the Schaeffler building, storm drains, boiler project, and other activities, just to name a few!
Please take a moment to review and adhere to the following security measures that are in place to ensure the safety of our students, employees, and visitors on our Cheraw and Community Campuses. These changes will become effective Monday, August 26, 2024:
1. ID Badges: All employees and students are required to wear their college ID badges at all times while on campus. This helps us quickly identify members of our campus community and maintain a secure environment. If you do not have an ID badge, you can obtain one from the Enrollment Center this week M-Th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (AND you get a snazzy Trailblazer Lanyard or Retractable Badge Holder!!)
2. Parking Decals: Every employee and student must have a valid parking decal displayed on their vehicle. This is essential for campus security and parking management. If you do not have a Parking Decal you should obtain one from the Enrollment Center this week M-Th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. You will need your license plate number to get your parking decal.
3. Visitor Check-In: All visitors to campus must check in at the main office located in the 100 building. At community campuses, visitors should see the campus coordinator. Visitors will be required to show a photo ID, and sign in, to obtain a visitor’s pass. Please remind any guests or visitors of this procedure to ensure a smooth check-in process.
| | |
|
4. Employee Parking: All employees are required to park in the designated parking lot near the 100 building. The only exception to this rule is for employees with an accommodation on file.
5. Student Parking: All students must park in the designated 200 building parking lot. This helps manage traffic flow and ensures that parking is available for both students and staff in the appropriate areas. The only exception to this rule is for students with an accommodation on file.
If an employee or student does not have their College ID, a visitor's pass will be issued for the day. However, only two visitor passes will be issued per semester, after reaching the limit, there will be a $5 charge for each visitor's pass.
Security will give a two-week grace period at the beginning of each semester for Parking Passes. During the grace period, a warning will be issued. After the grace period, if a student/employee has a warning on file and no parking decal on the car, a ticket will be issued.
Your cooperation with these policies is crucial to keeping our campus secure and orderly. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out to campus security or HR.
Thank you for your attention to these important measures and for your continued commitment to making Northeastern Technical College a safe place for everyone.
