Step into a career. Literally.
At Northeastern Technical College (NETC), students are experiencing potential careers firsthand through virtual reality. Through a partnership with Transfr, NETC is turning traditional career exploration into immersive, hands-on learning that supports student success and informed decision-making.
Recently, students and staff gathered to explore how virtual reality adds value to the classroom experience. These simulations help bridge the gap between learning and doing, offering realistic, transferable skills that reflect what is required in today’s workforce.
Inside the headset, learners can simulate real-world tasks like welding, assisting patients, repairing cars, or managing a restaurant. These interactive experiences mirror high-demand industries such as healthcare, construction, advanced manufacturing, and information technology.
Students are able to explore different pathways without needing prior experience or access to expensive tools. The virtual training is available across classrooms, mobile labs, and community outreach events. It offers a flexible way to remove barriers and introduce more learners to skilled trades and technical careers.
By combining cutting-edge technology with career readiness, NETC is helping students gain clarity, build confidence, and take the first step toward a future they can see for themselves.
