Blaze in the Moonlight: Welcome Week Paint Party Highlights NETC Mascot

NETC took this year's Spring Welcome Week to the next level with a splash of color and creativity! Students, faculty, and staff met at the Cheraw Campus Student Union this past Tuesday for a fun Paint Party as part of the week's activities.

The Paint Party was led by Human Resource Specialist Rachel Chapman, who guided everyone step-by-step in painting NETC's mascot, Blaze the wolf. The painting showed Blaze sitting peacefully in the moonlight on a snowy night. With brushes in hand and paint on their aprons, participants let their imaginations run wild!

Everyone had fun adding their own special touches to Blaze's snowy scene, and no two paintings were the same, which made it so much fun!

Blaze would be proud!

NETC Presents: Removing Barriers to Correctional Education: Empowering Inmates Through Technical Education

Northeastern Technical College (NETC) proudly presented on the topic, “Removing Barriers to Correctional Education: Empowering Inmates Through Technical Education,” as part of the Office of Correctional Education Professional Learning Series. This series was hosted in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education.

NETC President Dr. Kyle Wagner, Dean of Students Danielle Pace, and Evans Correctional Institution Program Reentry Specialist Natasha Sprattling led the presentation. They highlighted NETC’s impactful programs at Evans Correctional Institution in Bennettsville, SC, and the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Bennettsville.

Key topics covered included the benefits of technical education for incarcerated individuals, NETC’s innovative Stackable Credential Model, program successes and challenges, and future opportunities for expanding correctional education both locally and nationwide.

The presentation emphasized how technical education equips inmates with valuable skills, increases employment opportunities upon release, and contributes to reduced recidivism rates. NETC’s Stackable Credential Model allows participants to earn industry-recognized credentials that build toward higher qualifications, fostering a pathway to long-term success.

NETC remains committed to expanding access to quality education for all individuals and looks forward to further collaboration with correctional institutions and educational partners.

SECURITY REMINDERS

ID Badges: All employees and students are required to wear their college ID badges at all times while on campus. This helps us quickly identify members of our campus community and maintain a secure environment. If you do not have an ID badge, you can obtain one from the Enrollment Center this week M-Th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  (AND you get a snazzy Trailblazer Lanyard or Retractable Badge Holder!!)

Parking Decals: Every employee and student must have a valid parking decal displayed on their vehicle. This is essential for campus security and parking management. If you do not have a Parking Decal you should obtain one from the Enrollment Center this week M-Th from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. You will need your license plate number to get your parking decal.

3. Visitor Check-In: All visitors to campus must check in at the main office located in the 100 building. At community campuses, visitors should see the campus coordinator. Visitors will be required to show a photo ID, and sign in, to obtain a visitor’s pass. Please remind any guests or visitors of this procedure to ensure a smooth check-in process.

Employee Parking: All employees are required to park in the designated parking lot near the 100 building. The only exception to this rule is for employees with an accommodation on file.

Student Parking: All students must park in the designated 200 building parking lot. This helps manage traffic flow and ensures that parking is available for both students and staff in the appropriate areas. The only exception to this rule is for students with an accommodation on file.

If an employee or student does not have their College ID, a visitor's pass will be issued for the day. However, only two visitor passes will be issued per semester, after reaching the limit, there will be a $5 charge for each visitor's pass.

Your cooperation with these policies is crucial to keeping our campus secure and orderly. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out to campus security or HR.

Thank you for your attention to these important measures and for your continued commitment to making Northeastern Technical College a safe place for everyone.
