Construction Progress Takes Shape on the Cheraw Campus | | |
Exciting progress is underway at Northeastern Technical College’s Cheraw Campus as the framework for the new building begins to take shape. What was once a foundation is now transforming into a visible structure, with wall frames rising steadily.
The installation of the wall framing marks a major milestone in the construction process. This stage allows students, faculty, and visitors to truly envision the future facility taking form. The new building will provide expanded space for learning, innovation, and collaboration while supporting NETC’s mission to prepare students for success in today’s workforce.
Construction crews have been hard at work to keep each stage on schedule, and the project continues to move forward smoothly. The visible progress has created excitement across campus as the college community watches the new addition come to life.
Stay tuned for more updates as construction continues and the Cheraw Campus enters its next phase of growth.
| | | | NETC Massage Therapy Students Learn Chair Massage Techniques | | | | | | |
Massage Therapy students at Northeastern Technical College recently enhanced their hands-on skills by learning professional chair massage techniques. The training introduced students to a specialized form of massage designed for seated clients, often used in corporate wellness programs, community events, and spa settings.
Under the guidance of their instructor, students practiced body mechanics, positioning, and pressure application tailored for the compact environment of a massage chair. The session emphasized ergonomics, client communication, and safety to ensure a comfortable and effective experience for both client and therapist.
Chair massage provides many benefits, including reducing muscle tension, promoting relaxation, and improving circulation in the neck, shoulders, and back. It is also one of the most accessible forms of massage, making it an important skill for students as they prepare for future careers in the wellness industry.
By mastering chair massage techniques, NETC students are gaining valuable real-world experience that prepares them for work in a variety of professional settings while promoting wellness in the community.

| | NETC Culinary Shines at Taste of Marlboro Event | | |
On the evening of Thursday, November 6, students and faculty from Northeastern Technical College’s Culinary Arts program showcased their skills, creativity, and community spirit at the annual Taste of Marlboro hosted by the Marlboro Chamber of Commerce.
Celebrating Cuisine and Community
The Taste of Marlboro is an annual gathering that brings together local restaurants, caterers, and culinary programs for an evening of food, drinks, dancing, and connection. By participating, NETC’s Culinary Arts students demonstrated their developing craft and the college’s commitment to hands-on experience and community involvement.
NETC’s Contribution
Led by instructor Sha’Kira Gattison, the student team prepared a selection of dishes that highlighted both culinary technique and regional flavor. Their participation drew praise from chamber organizers and attendees who enjoyed the opportunity to sample the students’ creations.
Beyond the Plate: Service and Impact
In addition to serving food, NETC used the event to give back to the community. The college’s “One Can Make a Difference” food drive ran alongside the Taste of Marlboro, inviting guests to bring non-perishable items to support local families in need. This focus on both culinary excellence and community service reflects NETC’s core values.
| | |
Why It Matters
- Student Development: The event provided hands-on learning outside the classroom, including timed service, presentation, and interaction with attendees.
- Community Engagement: Events like this strengthen relationships between the college, local businesses, and the Marlboro community.
- Professional Growth: Participation reinforces NETC’s mission to prepare students for the workforce while promoting leadership, teamwork, and service.
