Forklift Simulator at Latta High School Will Enhance Hands-On Learning

Northeastern Technical College (NETC) has introduced a state-of-the-art Forklift Simulator at Latta High School to enhance hands-on learning opportunities for dual enrollment students. The simulator will play a key role in NETC’s Warehouse Logistics Certification program, providing students with essential training in forklift operations within a safe and controlled environment.

The Forklift Simulator has been installed at Latta High School and will be utilized by students beginning March 24th, as part of a five-week spring term course held after school hours. This initiative is designed to equip students with practical skills that are highly valued in the logistics and warehousing industry, preparing them for future career opportunities.

This project has been made possible through funding provided by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) grant and NETC’s partnership with Dillon County School District 3, whose support has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.

“The installation of the Forklift Simulator at Latta High School is a major step in providing students with hands-on, career-focused education that meets industry needs,” said NETC President, Dr. Kyle Wagner. “We are committed to equipping our students with the skills and training necessary to thrive in today’s workforce.”

By integrating cutting-edge technology into the curriculum, NETC continues to strengthen its commitment to workforce development and student success. The college looks forward to seeing the positive impact this training tool will have on students and their future career paths.

NETC Highlights Early Childhood Program at SC Legislative Luncheon

NETC Instructor Marlowe Harrington and student Tiffany Smith recently represented Northeastern Technical College (NETC) at the annual South Carolina Legislative Luncheon on February 26 at the SC State House. The event, designed to showcase the impact of programs within the South Carolina Technical College System, provided an opportunity for educators and students to engage directly with state legislators. Harrington and Smith attended to highlight NETC’s Early Childcare Program, which plays a crucial role in preparing future educators to support young learners across the state.

During the luncheon, Harrington and Smith shared insights on how the Early Childcare Program equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to foster early childhood development. They emphasized the program’s hands-on learning experiences, partnerships with local childcare facilities, and its role in addressing workforce needs in the childcare sector. Their participation helped legislators gain a deeper understanding of the program’s contributions to South Carolina’s education system and workforce development.

The annual SC Legislative Luncheon serves as a vital platform for technical colleges to advocate for continued support and investment in workforce training programs. By attending, Harrington and Smith reinforced the importance of early childhood education and demonstrated how NETC is actively shaping the future of childcare professionals. Their presence underscored the college’s commitment to providing high-quality education and training that benefits both students and the broader community.
