| | | | Massage Therapy Day Cohort Practices Muscle Energy Techniques | | |
Northeastern Technical College’s Massage Therapy Day Cohort is putting Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) into practice, gaining hands-on experience that will prepare them to provide effective care for future clients.
Students are learning to apply MET to increase joint mobility, relax tense muscles, and strengthen weak muscles. The techniques involve the active participation of the client, with guided muscle contractions followed by relaxation and stretching, allowing targeted muscles to release tension and improve flexibility.
Through this hands-on approach, students are mastering key concepts such as post-isometric relaxation and reciprocal inhibition, which help them address muscle restrictions and enhance overall movement. By practicing these skills in a controlled learning environment, the cohort is building confidence in their ability to assess client needs and apply effective treatment techniques.
By focusing on real-world application, Northeastern Technical College ensures that students leave the classroom prepared to help clients improve mobility, reduce discomfort, and achieve better physical function.
