A New Reality for Career Training at NETC

Step into a career. Literally.

At Northeastern Technical College (NETC), students are experiencing potential careers firsthand through virtual reality. Through a partnership with Transfr, NETC is turning traditional career exploration into immersive, hands-on learning that supports student success and informed decision-making.

Recently, students and staff gathered to explore how virtual reality adds value to the classroom experience. These simulations help bridge the gap between learning and doing, offering realistic, transferable skills that reflect what is required in today’s workforce.

Inside the headset, learners can simulate real-world tasks like welding, assisting patients, repairing cars, or managing a restaurant. These interactive experiences mirror high-demand industries such as healthcare, construction, advanced manufacturing, and information technology.

Students are able to explore different pathways without needing prior experience or access to expensive tools. The virtual training is available across classrooms, mobile labs, and community outreach events. It offers a flexible way to remove barriers and introduce more learners to skilled trades and technical careers.

By combining cutting-edge technology with career readiness, NETC is helping students gain clarity, build confidence, and take the first step toward a future they can see for themselves.

Culinary Students Served Up Three-Course Meal to Celebrate Semester’s End

On July 30th, NETC’s Culinary Arts students wrapped up their summer semester with a special three-course dining experience held in the culinary classroom. As part of their final lab, students prepared and served a full meal to guests, showcasing the skills they developed throughout the term.

Starter:

  • Sausage, White Bean, and Kale Soup
  • Caesar Salad

Main Course (Guest’s Choice):

  • Garlic and Rosemary Pork Tenderloin with Rice and Green Beans
  • Beef Stew with Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans

Dessert:

  • Classic Creme Brulee

The evening was a celebration of hard work, creativity, and the growing talent of NETC’s aspiring chefs. A tip jar was available during the meal, with all donations going directly to support the Culinary Arts program.

Events like this give students a chance to connect classroom learning with real-world experience, while giving the community a taste of what NETC students can do.
