Northeastern Technical College recently enhanced its CNC program with the addition of a new VF-1 Haas CNC Mill, a cutting-edge piece of technology that will provide students with valuable, hands-on training in computer numerical control (CNC) machining.
This new equipment will allow NETC students to gain practical experience on industry-standard machinery, preparing them with the skills and confidence needed for careers in advanced manufacturing.
The VF-1 Haas CNC Mill is known for its precision, reliability, and versatility, widely used in manufacturing sectors for producing high-quality components. By training on this advanced mill, students can develop key skills such as programming, setup,
and operation of CNC machines, making them better prepared for the demands of modern manufacturing roles. The machine’s user-friendly interface and range of functionalities provide a well-rounded learning experience for students, allowing them to practice complex techniques that will set them apart in the workforce.
NETC’s commitment to upgrading equipment across its technical programs demonstrates a strong investment in student success and workforce readiness. By offering access to industry-relevant technology like the VF-1 Haas CNC Mill, the college ensures students receive comprehensive training that meets industry standards. This approach allows graduates to transition smoothly into local manufacturing jobs, which increasingly require familiarity with advanced CNC machinery.

Blindfolded Exercise Builds Skills for NETC Massage Students
|
This week, NETC Massage Therapy students practiced 60-minute blindfolded massages, an exercise designed to help them "see" with their hands. Working without sight, students focused entirely on the sensations and feedback from their hands, deepening their ability to perceive muscle tension and other subtle cues.
This training sharpens their tactile skills, allowing them to develop a more intuitive and responsive approach to massage therapy.

Nursing Training Upgraded at NETC with High-Tech Simulation Labs
|
Northeastern Technical College recently expanded its nursing simulation labs, incorporating advanced technology and remodeled facilities to enhance hands-on training for nursing students.
Nursing Simulator Instructor, Lori Rivers, BSN, RN, recently shared updates on upgraded equipment and new technologies to support students in developing critical clinical skills. The expanded lab offers students a safe environment to practice skills, make mistakes, and learn from them—all while maintaining patient safety as they prepare for real-world healthcare settings.
NETC’s simulation lab features Laerdal high-fidelity manikins that create realistic clinical scenarios, fostering an immersive learning experience.
"Simulation is a wonderful and exciting learning tool for our students," Rivers explained. "Simulated-based learning enables the learners to practice skills in a setting that allows for errors while promoting professional growth without compromising patient safety."
In the lab, students are placed in small groups, where each member is assigned a role in a simulated scenario. This structure allows students to gain experience in various aspects of patient care while being evaluated on their performance.
Following International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation (INACSL) standards, NETC’s lab is designed to meet specific objectives that enhance student learning outcomes. This year’s renovation also introduced the Laerdal SimCapture System, a state-of-the-art audio and video recording tool that allows students to review their performance.
Through recorded simulations, students can assess their strengths, identify areas for improvement, and work on decreasing human errors, strengthening decision-making abilities, and building critical thinking skills.

Trailblazer Golf wraps up Fall Season
|
NETC Trailblazer Golf team participated in the New People’s Bank Intercollegiate golf tournament October 27-29 in Bristol, TN. The tournament is a precursor to the NJCAA Division I, Region 10 District Golf Tournament which is also held at The Golf Club of Bristol in Bristol, TN in the Spring of 2025.
Evan Cox had his best tournament performance of the season. He fired rounds of 80-75 to finish T28 for the event. His second round 75 included five birdies, two of which were on tough par 3 holes.
Vic Barrington fired consecutive rounds of 85 to finish at +28 and a tie for 53rd place. Hunter Lee’s finish was not too far behind. His two rounds of 94 and 90 had him finishing alone in 60th place. Hunter’s second round score of 90 was his lowest tournament score for NETC during the two semesters that he has been a member of the golf team.
This was the golf team’s final event of the Fall season and the players’ performance was very encouraging. We are truly looking forward to the Spring season with great anticipation!
