GROUND TRANSFERS to/from the CUN airport & Planet Hollywood are included in your reservation. However, YOU MUST SUBMIT YOUR FLIGHT INFO prior to arrival to ensure your name is on our PASSENGER LIST. CLICK THE LINK below to complete this step.
IF YOU DO NOT BOOK YOUR TRANSFERS WITH THE SANDS, YOU WILL NOT BE ON OUR PASSENGER LIST AND WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO BOARD OUR SHUTTLES. You will need to arrange your own transportation and understand that The Sands is unable to assist with that reservation. This applies to pre & post-days, as well.

OUTSIDE RESERVATIONS
IF YOU HAVE BOOKED EXTRA NIGHTS OR TRANSFERS OUTSIDE OF THE SANDS, WE ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST WITH THOSE RESERVATIONS. YOU WILL NEED TO CONTACT YOUR RESERVATION HOST DIRECTLY FOR ASSISTANCE.

When you first get off the plane and get through immigration, a duty-free shop will be available. Once past that, you will arrive at your luggage. Once you have luggage, you will go through customs, which is usually not a big deal - travelers are selected randomly, so not everyone will be stopped.
Once through customs, there will be MANY transportation companies trying to get you to hire them. Just ignore them and keep walking all the way to the end toward the roadway and look for our Global representatives holding The Sands.rocks signs with our logo. They will direct you to your shuttles.
Once the shuttle leaves, prepare yourselves for "The Best Week Of Your Life" because the next stop is The Sands! This trip is approximately 30 minutes. Once there, staff will welcome you and direct you where to check-in.

Remember that thousands of vacationers (Sanders and non-Sanders alike) will arrive within a few hours.
Tolerance, kindness & patience will make your experience more enjoyable and memorable. Enjoy the culture; take it in!
Keep in mind - YOU ARE IN THE TROPICS. It will be hot & humid. Dress lightly and make sure you are staying hydrated. The resort has relaxed its dress code for us, so feel free to dress as comfortably as you like.

I don't treat old folks, but we are all kids in the Sands anyway, right?
Here are a few tips to try and make it through THE BEST WEEK OF YOUR LIFE intact!
1) HYDRATION - You need water, and also electrolytes (it is what plants crave!). I like Liquid IV once or twice a day during the trip. My wife hates the salty taste, so she takes water & electrolyte pills. Either way works great.
2) GERMS - especially if you have risk factors, you need to get your vaccines roughly 10-14 days prior to the trip. I prefer Novavax for COVID-19 as it seems to last longer, has better cross-variant protection, and has fewer side effects than the mRNA vaccines. Flu is a good idea as well.
3) Rx TO BRING- I bring Ondansetron ODT for potential vomiting. You don't want to be stuck in Mexico vomiting and dehydrated. Ask your doctor - most will call it in. I also start a proton pump inhibitor (Nexium or others) a few days prior to the trip. The day drinking coupled with lime in everything can lead to some crazy heartburn!

Enjoy Mimosas & Bloody Marys while redesigning your band, concert, vintage, or Sands tee or tank!
We will have samples of different designs for you to replicate or create your own style with the demonstrated techniques!

Tease that hair, contour those cheekbones, choose your look, and relive those mall-rat days with a stop at The Sands Glamour Shots studio!
We will have some fashion accessories & props to use (boas, satin gloves, chiffon scarves, bandanas, bold jewelry, etc), but feel free to bring your own! If you've got some pieces to lend for our sessions, you can drop them off by Wednesday at The Sands Store.
Please arrive on time, with your makeup & hair done. Bring your own touch-up kit (face & hair) if needed - we are unable to supply them for you. Mirrors will be available.
Professional photos will be uploaded to our online gallery for free download.

We are less than 2 weeks away, and I would like to welcome this year's new Sanders - you are in for the best week of your life!
Every year I give some advice on the most important thing to me: the safety and health of our guests.
Now, I am not a Doctor (even though I play one at home), so these are only suggestions based on what I follow. Still, most are common sense that warrant reiteration.
HEALTH
Everyone is responsible for their health; if everyone takes ownership of it, we can help keep any bug from getting passed around. Here are some suggestions...
-
GET PLENTY OF SLEEP and rest leading up to the trip, especially before flying.
-
USE HAND SANITIZER, especially at the airport and on the plane. Hand sanitizer is provided at each restaurant before entering.
-
Bring ACTIVATED CHARCOAL for stomach issues from different bacteria in another country.
-
BUILD YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM with Zinc, D-3, B- 12, and vitamin C supplements.
-
HYDRATE with plenty of water before and while at the resort. They offer plenty of bottled water.
SAFETY
The following is not meant to incite fear, as this applies anywhere in the world - but to refresh people on ways to protect themselves, I offer the following;

For singles, EMPLOY A BUDDY SYSTEM. Do not walk alone at night without someone you know well.
-
Use LIDS FOR YOUR DRINKS, and don't leave your drink unattended. Don't take drinks or shots from people you don't know.

KEEP YOUR SAFE LOCKED when you leave. If it's open, it is standard practice for the resort to call security, document the contents, lock it, and then notify you.

Use COMMON SENSE and be aware of your surroundings.

Bring a WEDGE DOORSTOP with you; when you are in the room, put it in the door (especially recommended for single women traveling solo.) Amazon

Consider a PORTABLE CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR. Amazon

I know you are relaxed and excited about vacation, but when you get on the shuttle, please don't forget to put your SEAT BELT on.
The resort has an ONSITE CLINIC if needed. Hopefully, no one will have to go to the hospital. If you do, explicitly direct the resort staff to inform me.
Also, please be careful in the hallways, rooms, and pool area, as they can be very SLIPPERY. We don't want anyone falling.
