How to Jumbo Size Your BPH

Get more BPH from your bucket elevator with 4B Components new Jumbo 20x10 buckets.

At water level +10%, the Jumbo 20x10’s capacity is impressive at 1,140 cubic inches, making 25,000 BPH easily attainable with a single row. When installed in Low Profile configuration, 30,000 BPH can be achieved. In a triple row configuration, that equates to a massive 90,000 BPH.

The new 20x10 option is ideal for high-throughput receiving legs, barge loadout terminals or high-wear applications where the elevator is feeding on the downside or moving abrasive materials.

With the Jumbo 20x10 size, it takes fewer buckets to achieve more bushels per hour and less labor to install them on the belt, translating to lower costs!

Who is Roger?

Roger Bruére, Vice President

Material Handling Division

Few people know 4B Components Limited—and material handling—as well as Roger. Let’s get to know him better!

How long he’s been with 4B?

Roger came to 4B Components Limited straight out of university nearly two decades ago, after finishing his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. (Our Illini and Hawkeye employees try not to hold it against him.)

How is working at 4B different?

4B has a strong human element to its business, an open line of communication, a family-like work environment that encourages authenticity and creates a sense of belonging for the employee. I believe these are some of the reasons for the high number of long-term employees at 4B.

How his background shapes his perspective.

Born in Mexico, raised in Brazil and the United States, Roger has a multicultural background combined with technical training that have served both him and 4B well in the international business market.

How he connects with customers.

“By stepping into their world and sharing their perspective, the dynamic in the relationship shifts from buyer/seller to people working together to solve a problem,” Roger says. “From my experience, this mindset helps us achieve our ultimate goal, which is to build trust and long-term relationships.”

How he takes a break from work.

I’m passionate about sports. I play competitive soccer, tennis and basketball. I enjoy mountain biking with friends; I coach a local soccer team where my son plays, and I love traveling with my family.

What surprises people about Roger?

He’s fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish, and has dual citizenship in Brazil and France!

See him 2/24 - 3:15pm

Want to meet Roger?

See him at GEAPS Exchange in Kansas City, MO, when he and Carl Swisher will share tips on what to look for when increasing bucket elevator capacity, in an Education Session at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, February 24. Or visit him at the 4B BOOTH #1516!

Scraped Bucket

TECH TIP: Scraped Sides

If the sides of your buckets are scraping, it is likely caused by belt misalignment, which has multiple potential causes.

  • Side loading could be pushing the buckets and belt over.
  • The belt splice may not be square.
  • There may be product buildup between the belt and the pulley.
  • The pulley crown may be ineffective due to wear.
  • Head and boot pulleys may not be in line.
  • The elevator itself may not be plumb.
  • The belt tension may not be be correct.
