The forty days of Lent, from Ash Wednesday through the Saturday before Palm Sunday, are a time to renew the classic disciplines of prayer, fasting, and alms-giving. The forty days mirror the forty days Jesus' time in the wilderness. It is a a time to refresh a right spirit within us and to prepare us for a deeper appreciation of Jesus' passion, his death, and ultimately his resurrection at Easter.

Wednesday, March 18-Christ the Passover
The Cathedral Choir will offer a concert on the themes of the Jewish Passover and Christ as the Christian Passover. Listeners will hear music from both religious traditions offered in a meditative program designed
to enrich your Lenten journey.
Wednesday, March 25- The Way of Love: Bless and Rest
As part of our engagement in Baptized for Life-an Episcopal initiative to equip and empower all the baptized to claim and live more fully into their baptismal promises-we will be exploring
The Way of Love during our Wednesday evening programs in Lent and Holy week.
The Way of Love is rooted in each of our personal calls to practice living the way of Jesus-to turn, learn, pray, worship, bless, go, and rest in the way of our savior. In the journey through Lent to Easter, we are baptized into Jesus' life, self-giving, and death; then we rise in hope to life transformed. Come and share in this time together as people of God.
This is the third in a four-part program introducing where we will explore our ties to modern day "idols" (work, money, power, etc.) to see what practices can be transformed into blessings for the sake of the world, and we will explore rest by committing to a specific, personal Sabbath practice.
Wednesday, April 1-"Another Sunrise"
Kathryn Hedlund, soprano, and Christopher Powell, pianist, will present, "Another Sunrise," by modern composer, Jake Heggie. This gripping work is based on the story of Krystina Zywulska, a Polish resistor, hidden Jew, Holocaust survivor; lyricist, columnist, and author.
Wednesday, April 8- The Way of Love: Worship and Go
This final session of our Lenten exploration of "The Way of Love" brings us into Holy Week. This session is designed to help us see the glory of God in all things, turning life itself into an act of worship. Participants will craft an action plan based on the Baptismal Covenant, and discern how they could "GO" to join God's mission of border-crossing, transformation, and healing.

Facilitated by Fr. Marshall Craver to meet in Lent and Easter seasons
Come and join us as we learn about a variety of prayer forms that assist us in becoming more aware of and surrendered to the Presence of the Risen Christ in our day to day lives. The group will meet from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Christ Church Cathedral for three Mondays in Lent, (March 16, 23, 30), and three Mondays in Eastertide (April 20, 27, and May 4). Everyone is welcome! Regular attendance is encouraged but not required. Come as often as you can, and leave each Monday with a prayer form that you can take with you and practice throughout your day.

(paraphrased from The Episcopal Handbook)
By far, the most important requirement for joining the Episcopal Church
is just showing up. If one is baptized in a parish, he or she automatically becomes a member. If one is already a member of an Episcopal parish and moves to another, a Letter of Transfer is typically requested. However, the paperwork generally plays second fiddle to the importance of a feeling of belonging to a parish family. Adult Inquirers and anyone else interested in learning about joining the Episcopal church should speak with Dean Gibson.
