THE GIVING ROOM
A CENTER FOR WELLNESS
|
Heidi, Kate and I are delighted to invite our next group of aspiring teachers and dedicated yogis to our studio for this year's
200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training.
This is perhaps the single most important and reward offerings we have at the Giving Room. Many of the students from our first two sessions have graduated into successful teaching positions. Other students have chosen to continue their personal practice with a renewed commitment to the ancient wisdom and practice enhanced by their training.
If you are looking to connect with like-minded yogis while dedicating yourself to learning and practicing, this training is for you. If you are interested in acquiring a Yoga Alliance Certification for your teaching endeavors, we welcome you to the Giving Room.
Heidi, Kate and I are available to answer any questions you may have regarding our training. We look forward to hearing from you!
In Love,
Paula

FEEDBACK FROM OUR GRADUATES

TRACY BALZANO
I have been practicing some form of Yoga for most of my life. For the last 10 years I thought that teaching would be something I would enjoy and be good at.
During my own practice I would think about the instruction; not just about how to process it in my own body but how it might process in others.
When presented with the opportunity to train with Heidi Fokine, someone with whom I'd studied for the last 20 years, in Southold, I knew I had to take advantage of it. I'm so glad I did.
My Giving Room 200YTT provided a community of learners and a supportive environment in which to hone this craft. The space and caring cultivated at The Giving Room is singular

JESSLIN KELLY
My heart is so full reflecting back on my experience in The Giving Room's yoga teacher training. With a community of teachers and students who truly care for one another and grow together in practice and as family throughout the training. With the abundance of love and positivity from this amazing group I was able to deepen my asana, meditation, pranayama practices, and anatomy education. Through the work of small groups, eventually to the whole class, my confidence grew allowing me to become comfortable enough to share my practice with others. I now teach twice a week at The Giving Room, and the entire experience continues to enlighten my life daily. I am beyond grateful for everyone I met, this exceptional experience has truly changed my life.

CAITLIN MAKIELSKI
I began my journey to becoming a yoga teacher about five years ago when I completed my first 200 hour training in New York City. Since then, I had been teaching and living on the east end but was still looking for MY teacher, someone whose practice I could really connect with and who could help guide me in continuing my study. When a friend invited me to come and practice with Heidi, I was completely blown away by her teaching - it was knowledgable but also filled with grace, humor, and spirit. Experiencing her class reinvigorated my practice and helped me come back to my most important role as a teacher - being a student. When I heard she would be leading the teacher training at The Giving Room, I signed up immediately (and even got a few friends to join too!).
My experience at The Giving Room was nothing short of phenomenal. At first I was hesitant about redoing my 200 hour certification, but I'm forever grateful that I did! In addition to being the refresher I desperately needed, it was everything I felt I had been missing in my first training.
Under the careful guidance of Heidi and Paula, our group quickly became like a family - an amazing network of friends and fellow students/teachers (to this day we remain in touch as a continuous source of support and inspiration for each other)!
Heidi, Paula, Padma, and our mentors shared with us their wealth of knowledge and resources and lead us on a truly life changing journey over the course of the training. In addition to the study itself, the sense of community and love that surrounds The Giving Room provided the ideal environment in which to practice. The beauty and energy of the space is reflected not only in its walls but in the faces of everyone you encounter there - and the food is THE best!
I truly can't say enough about my time at The Giving Room - authentic, deep, powerful, and at the same time, so. much. fun. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a training, a class, a smoothie, or, simply, a smile :).
Caitlin is currently based in the Hamptons where she draws inspiration from the open spaces and mystical beauty of the east end. Her style incorporates vinyasa sequencing and mindfulness with an emphasis on alignment and spirituality. Caitlin has practiced yoga in the New York City area for the past eight years. She has completed trainings at the Laughing Lotus Yoga Center in Chelsea as well as The Giving Room in Southold. She honors the grace, wisdom, and authenticity of her teachers and students who provide unending guidance.

I cannot say enough about the Yoga Teacher Training Program at The Giving Room. The atmosphere created by Paula, Heidi, and Padma was one of genuine commitment to and acceptance of all the students, sprinkled with much love and humor. I had no idea how much I was going to learn when I began. The curriculum included in depth coverage of asana, pranayama, meditation, yoga philosophy and traditions, sequencing, and anatomy. There was ample opportunity for hands on teaching with constructive and sensitive feedback. By the time the training came to an end, I had the confidence to teach my first yoga class knowing that my students would not only be safe in my hands but hopefully inspired as well.
Jan is a graduate of the 2015-2016 Yoga Teacher Training Program at The Giving Room. She has been a yoga practitioner since 2005 and has a deep respect for what it has brought to her physically, mentally, and spiritually. She is grateful to her original teachers Kate Alesio and Isabelle Cote-Cohen for lighting the flame of yoga in her heart. After a 34 year career as both a special education teacher and administrator in the NY public schools she is thrilled to be teaching yoga at BodyRite Training in Jamesport, NY, sharing her love of yoga and healthy living with her students.

STEPHANIE COSOLA
Somewhere, sometime ago, I read a quote explaining the,
"only difference between who you are, and who you want to be, is what you do."
I remember thinking; really, that's all it takes? I could be something different? I could do something different with my life?
Almost instantly, with this newfound awareness, I decided I wanted more yoga in my life. Although I had not been practicing yoga for very long, I had become enamored with all things yogic. So, inspired by my new thinking, I signed up for teacher training at the Giving Room and began my yoga journey.
The training I received at The Giving Room was invigorating. As part of a supportive group, I began to learn more about the ancient philosophy and practices of yoga. Within the accepting Giving Room community, I was able to try on this new idea of myself as a yogi, and I love it! Thank you Giving Room for the opportunity to learn and share all things yoga. Namaste.
