Meet Quilliam, CMZoo's new north american porcupine
You may have seen photos and videos of a clumsy and adorable Quilliam on our social media accounts, but have you learned about his personality?

This new video features Quilliam, his roommate, Kale, and their keeper, Rebecca, who gives us a glimpse into Rocky Mountain Wild, how these two are getting along and what our hope for their future entails.

Animal Encounter:
Checking in on baby orangutan, kera
CMZoo's nine-month-old Sumatran orangutan, Kera, is developing confidence, a personality and teeth! Although baby orangutans stay incredibly bonded with their mothers and will nurse for up to five years, Kera is starting to try new foods and new activities, like climbing mesh!

Watch a new video featuring Kera and her mom, Sumagu, with insight from their keeper, Eleanor, in Primate World.

Two CMZoo staff members recently returned from Cape Town, South Africa, where they helped hand-rear African penguin chicks at the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB), a Cheyenne Mountain Zoo conservation partner.

Children's Hospital Colorado:
healthy living: hadiah's breathing treatments
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is home to a very special Bornean orangutan named Hadiah. 22-year-old Hadiah is mom to four-year-old Ember and has called Cheyenne Mountain Zoo home since she was born here on June 8, 1996. With her gentle affection and engaging demeanor, she is a legendary guest and staff favorite.

Guests often wonder what similarities they share with Hadiah and her fellow great apes in Primate World. One experience Hadiah shares with many humans is that she takes medications every day for her allergies and respiratory issues.
