Our task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

IF YOU ARE A TTIA MEMBER, REMEMBER TO VOTE

TTIA ELECTIONS COMING UP!

In March of 2024 we will once again be holding elections for several TTIA Board positions. Several positions have been filled by appointment when vacancies occurred, and those positions are now also up for election. We are still needing a candidate for Credentialing Trustee. If you are interested please email us at ttia@therapeutictouch.org and we will send you the responsibilities of this position.

The election is now open to members at Election of Board of Trustees - Therapeutic Touch International Association and we encourage you to vote, even if there is only one candidate.

Here are some words from our candidates:

International Trustee – Annie Hallett

Since taking on this role I have really enjoyed making connections with members from various parts of the globe and bringing then together, whether to meet via Zoom or to contribute to TT Congress.

I would be pleased to have the opportunity to continue with this and see whether it develops further, so I would hope to be re elected.

Annie Hallett

Research Co-Trustee – Suzanne Engelberg and Eunice Lee

I'm eager to be a TTIA Board research co-trustee so I can contribute my research knowledge, experience, and ideas to our wonderful organization. I'm especially looking forward to working with Eunice Lee (my research co-trustee) and the rest of the TTIA Board trustees.

In joy,

Suzanne Engelberg

What an honor to even be considered for the position of co-trustee of research and also with Suzanne Engelberg who has actual expertise with research and guiding graduate students in this field. While I certainly feel more confidence in the position because of Suzanne next to me, and while I feel as though I am standing on a solid legacy and framework of research because of former research trustee Denise Coppa, Dr. Dolores Krieger, Dora Kunz, and all who contributed to TTIA’s bibliographical history beginning in the 1970s, I will take a moment to share my heart and credentials, which I hope will serve TTIA, TT, and in some small way, humanity’s healing as a whole through this endeavor. I completed my Master of Science in Nutrition and Integrative Health with concentration in herbal medicine in summer of 2022 through Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH). I followed that with my current program which I am enrolled in, the Doctor of Clinical Nutrition also through MUIH. I have taught alongside my professor of research in student journal club and am currently working on preparing a patient case study presentation with my colleagues at MUIH’s next research symposium this spring of 2024. An idea that Suzanne and I have planned as TTIA co-research trustees is to learn about current TT research projects taking place all over the world and to have them presented at TTIA’s next conference. Our intention behind this is to learn, inform, and bring together international collaboration in research, which will help bring TT into the hands of health professionals, academic institutions, researchers, and perhaps most importantly and urgently, people in need of help and healing. Thank you for the honor of considering me for this position.

With much joy, appreciation, and love,

Eunice Lee

Programs Co-Trustee – Mary Harding and Patti Cannistraci

Just as the desert lies dormant, waiting for the rains to spark the blossoming of the desert flowers, I too am eager to see the beauty of TT'ers from across the globe coming together in person and virtually in the landscape and energy of Santa Fe, New Mexico. I am honoured to be part of the team crafting another beautiful gathering where compassion and healing bloom.

Mary Harding

My name is Patti Cannistraci, and I am writing to express my sincere interest in the TTIA Program Co-Trustee role. As a seasoned nurse with 44 years of experience, predominantly in nursing education, I have recently become a member of TTIA and have greatly benefited from the diverse range of international, national, and regional programs offered by the organization.

I have been inspired by the thought-provoking and impactful learning experiences provided through these programs. Witnessing the success of TTIA’s initiatives in creating and delivering these programs has further fueled my enthusiasm to contribute to the organization’s continued growth and success.

My extensive background includes years of service on various Nursing Boards, where I have consistently demonstrated a commitment to fostering innovation, collaboration, and strategic planning, qualities that I believe are essential for working as co-trustee of programs and achieving TTIA’s mission.

If granted the opportunity to serve on the Board of Trustees, I am committed to working collaboratively with fellow members, stakeholders, and the broader TTIA community to ensure that our programs continue to thrive and meet the evolving needs of our organization.

Sincerely,

Patti Cannistraci

Exciting news regarding the TTIA 2025 Congress!!

Eagle Poem

--Joy Harjo

To pray you open your whole self

To sky, to earth, to sun, to moon

To one whole voice that is you.

And know there is more

That you can't see, can't hear,

Can't know except in moments

Steadily growing, and in languages

That aren't always sound but other

Circles of motion.

Like eagle that Sunday morning

Over Salt River. Circled in blue sky

In wind, swept our hearts clean

With sacred wings.

We see you, see ourselves and know

That we must take the utmost care

And kindness in all things.

Breathe in, knowing we are made of

All this, and breathe, knowing

We are truly blessed because we

Were born, and die soon within a

True circle of motion,

Like eagle rounding out the morning

Inside us.

We pray that it will be done

In beauty.

In beauty.

Therapeutic Touch Awareness Week May 6 - 12

Therapeutic Touch Network of Ontario is inviting all TT members, during Therapeutic Touch Awareness Week, to introduce Therapeutic Touch to someone outside of our TT community. The Therapeutic Touch Network of Ontario Task Group has been encouraging all network members to participate in a week of Therapeutic Touch outreach activities in communities throughout Canada for seven years. Dee always hoped to have Therapeutic Touch used in every home. We’d love to build momentum to make Therapeutic Touch a household name. It could be an organization, a friend, a high school class, a hospice, a Long Term Care facility ... The list is endless. We have lots of resources to support you.

Dear Therapeutic Touch Friends and Supporters,

The Therapeutic Touch Community and the Orcas Island Foundation (Indralaya) are excited to let you know that we are inviting Peninah Abatoni to join our annual Therapeutic Touch training and service programs this June! While Peninah is participating in the programs, Indralaya has graciously agreed to cover her registration, food, and accommodation.

For those of you who have not met Peninah, for almost twenty years she has been introducing Therapeutic

Touch training programs to grassroots women’s groups in Rwanda, her home. She has been a guest speaker at three

TTIA Congresses and has dedicated her life to outreach and service work.

The community of Therapeutic Touch practitioners and friends is needed to cover Peninah’s international travel costs, such as airfare, travel visa, and food while enroute.

* Are you able to help with this?

* Do you have travel agency connections?

* Do you have funds to contribute?

Please send your donations to – NWTTI (Northwest Therapeutic Touch Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit TT organization in Oregon.) To make donation go to www.nwtti.org and click on Donation Button on home page. When you make a donation, please include note that it is for Peninah’s travel. Or email Cordy to let her know you have donated to Peninah’s expenses. PayPal automatically accepts funds in US dollars. If you are making a donation from outside the US, you may want to convert first so you aren’t donating more than you thought.

Questions can be directed to Cordy Anderson (cordywa@gmail.com).

(If anyone knows how to donate air miles, please contact Cordy.)

This year’s TT programs at Indralaya include three days for “Foundation” level students (June 8th-12th), Mentoring Programs from June 8th to 14th and week two: Therapeutic Touch as A Path of Consciousness, Healing and Service” from June 17th to the 23rd. As well as contributing to Peninah’s expenses, we invite you to join us at Indralaya!
