Community workshop coming up this Saturday!
East Area Plan Community Workshop
10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Saturday, November 23
Johnson & Wales University
Academic Center
1900 Olive Street, Denver

Finally, after snow forced a delay, the community workshop to review updated draft plan recommendations for the East Area Plan is happening this weekend!

For those who cannot attend the rescheduled meeting, the updated recommendations and corresponding surveys are already online. Additional opportunities to weigh in and ask questions in person are in the works and will be announced soon.

Workshop Agenda
10 a.m. - Welcome and overview
10:50 a.m. - Breakout discussions

A recommendations open house, a resource fair and a general forum will be open for drop-in attendance throughout the morning.
What to know before you go . . .
More than 300 of your neighbors have RSVP'd so we expect a full house. Here are a few things to keep in mind ahead of the event:

  • Parking is available but not immediately adjacent to the building entrance, so give yourself 5-10 minutes to walk in, and come in on the south side of the building.
  • Extra staff will be on hand to accommodate the expected crowd, but please be patient and kind as you wait for answers to your questions.
  • No final decisions will be made at the meeting on any of the questions discussed -- the purpose of the workshop is to provide an overview of the updated recommendations, listen and collect community input.
  • For complete logistical details including information on available interpretation, location, parking and accessibility, visit DenverGov.org/eastplan.

Lastly, THANK YOU! We know your time is precious, and we appreciate everyone who is taking the time to participate. We look forward to a constructive and respectful conversation for everyone.

About the East Area Plan
The East Planning Area neighborhoods—South Park Hill, Montclair, Hale, and East Colfax—contain many great community assets, including historic parkways, the Rose Medical Center, Johnson and Wales University, and many unique, locally-owned businesses. The area is experiencing some significant changes, such as the 9th and Colorado mixed use project, as well as plans to add Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) along Colfax Avenue. Two of the four neighborhoods, South Park Hill and East Colfax, have out of date plans, while Hale and Montclair have no plans at all.

The Neighborhood Planning Initiative provides a great opportunity to establish the community’s vision for maintaining and enhancing the quality of life in these neighborhoods for decades to come.
