October 4 , 2024

Hello Tim,

Time is of the essence. There is but a month left before the most consequential election of our lives. This newsletter has important information which we share with you, and intern we hope that you will share this news with others.

SWWAP believes that ongoing education is necessary to participate in our democracy as informed citizens in this warp-speed world we live. We share one such forum coming up on this Sunday, October 6, that features Nick Ramos of Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. This forum is a collaborative effort with the Iowa County Election Education Team, who will also be hosting Nick in Dodgeville.

What also share volunteer information from the local Mount Horeb Progressive Troll Team. The Progressive Trolls have many tasks to accomplish, weekly canvass opportunities, post cards, phone banking, office hours, etc. We encourage all to find a place where you can make a difference.

Check out our first newspaper ad in this newsletter. We presently have three ads planned. The area of distribution is reliant on donations. One source of funding will be the special concert with Corey Hart on the October 13. Consider a donation to SWWAP to help us spread our ads throughout SouthWest Wisconsin.

We can look to the past to see what is at stake in this election. Do you. remember how you felt waking up on November 9, 2016? SWWAP struggled to put words to the tragedy, the following appeared in our election wrap up.

"There is no sugarcoating the results of last week's election. The results hold profound setbacks for our environment, civil liberties, economy and international diplomacy. Though Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, as with Al Gore before, we are saddled with a diminished executive branch with the power to affect the Supreme Court for decades. The Democrats also lost the check that the Senate, with a majority, would have provided. These results were obtained with 46% of eligible voters not casting a ballot. Seems the real winner was apathy."

Let us all work in the next month to make sure this is not the storyline to the 2024 election.

FORWARD TOGETHER!
