UpRooted Dance & Friends Performances

UpRooted Dance is celebrating 18 years of dance making! Join UpRooted Dance's Keira Hart and friends Boris Willis, Kelly King, Lauren Devera, Rachael Coad, and Sophie Witmer as they present a collection of new works created in collaboration. Each work specifically looks at an aspect of what it means to be fully "embodied." The dances use movement, props, and technology to explore a variety of concepts including status and class, sensuality, parallel lives, play, and more!

Glen Echo Park Civil Rights & History Tour

Who led the Civil Rights protests to desegregate Glen Echo Amusement Park in 1960? Which amusement park ride was a focal point of the protests? Junior Ranger Program Swearing-In Event

Have you completed a Clara Barton, Glen Echo Park or Theodore Roosevelt Island junior ranger booklet and would like to be sworn in by a ranger and receive a junior ranger badge? If so, you may meet a park ranger at the Candy Corner Ranger Station in Glen Echo Park on the first Saturday of each month at 11:00am. You may also pick up junior ranger books you would like to work on during this time. The junior ranger program offers people of all ages the opportunity to learn more about the parks.

DanceFit: Folk Dances of India

October 3 | 11:15am - 12:15pm | Hall of Mirrors Dance Studio

In this class, participants will have the opportunity to learn about and experience three folk dances from India. They include Bhangra (energetic dance from the state of Punjab), Garba (circle dance from the state of Gujarat), and Dandiya Raas (stick dance from the state of Gujarat). These dances have historically been done in community during special events and festivals. Join Smita Khatri for a joyous exploration of these dance styles.

Opening Reception: The Deconstructed Cathedral: A Celebration of Cathedral Arts

Bumper Car Squares

Join us for Sunday afternoon square dancing at the Park! We'll start out with a square dance intro lesson for all skill levels from 2:45pm - 3:00pm. Then, caller Janine Smith will lead a rousing square dance to live music from Supertrad! The band will play from 3:00pm - 5:30pm so get ready for square dancing fun that still gets you home early. We'll dance in the climate-controlled Ballroom Back Room.

Jennie the Cat: A Halloween Adventure

The Helen Hayes nominated favorite from Ingrid&Mollie returns! When Jennie receives a Halloween card that calls her a scary cat, she feels like she's been put in a box. Does she have to be scary?
