Hi Jenni,

Happy New Year! πŸŽ‰ Welcome to the first weekly newsletter of 2025!

This week, keep your body moving and your mind active at the Park with history hikes, art exhibitions & discussions, dances, and more.

National Parks Along the Potomac is back! Join a Park Ranger on Saturday morning for a guided circuit hike (four miles) through Glen Echo Park, starting at 9:30am at the Dentzel Carousel, then hiking along the C&O Canal National Historical Park and MacArthur Boulevard to Clara Barton National Historic Site (registration info below).

It's a busy weekend in our visual art studios and galleries! On Saturday morning, Stone Tower Studio's Art Clinic Online (ACO) presents a virtual Artist Discussion with Dawn Whitmore, a DC based interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the dynamics between mythology, identity, and the environment. On Saturday evening, join us for a series of opening receptions in the Partnership Galleries. Artist Marilyn Gates-Davis, winner of the 2024 Park View Artist Award, presents Pieces Of A Dream, a solo exhibition of dreamscape paintings exploring the interplay between cherished childhood memories, personal loss, and the symbolic language of dreams. In the Stone Tower gallery, Jill McCarthy Stauffer's solo exhibition, If Saltwater Heals Wounds, features media installations that reference the coastal ecologies of southern Rhode Island as warped through the memory and digital replication of the artist. And Glen Echo Glassworks presents a group exhibition of blown and fused glass artwork in the Popcorn Gallery, Gathering Perspectives.

Enjoying the snowy weather? Let the winter wonderland continue with the Puppet Co.'s new show, Snowflakes, presented by guest artist Beale Street Puppets. Opening this Saturday, experience a whimsical winter with the Merry Marionettes!

Swing your partner round and round at the Bumper Car Squares dance this Saturday! Featuring live music by Rhys Jones, Jay White, Richard Osban and Dan Klingsberg, with calling by Dave Hauver, we'll have you Do-Si-Do-ing in no time flat. FREE for kids 12 and under, this dance is a great time for all ages and experience levels!

Looking to try out a new dance class in the new year? DanceFit for Body & Mind is back with two active dance styles to pick from β€” the perfect opportunity to try something new and get your body moving! On Saturday mornings you can join us for a Shake Your Soul class with Katy Baytosh, back by popular demand. On Monday evenings, join us for a new Line Dance class with Gizelle Merced.

Read on for more of this week's happenings, including upcoming classes and social dance. We can't wait to see you at the Park soon, and as always, we appreciate your support!
