Greetings!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Pride Family Day this past Saturday. We had a wonderful time celebrating with you! This week at Glen Echo Park, check out Juneteenth celebrations, dance & music, children's theater, and more.

Sleeping Beauty: The Time Traveller opens Thursday at Adventure Theatre MTC. Rolly’s ordinary summer takes an extraordinary twist when he’s whisked back in time to the Age of Charlemagne! There, he meets Aurora, a bold 12-year-old princess with dreams of knighthood and adventure beyond her castle walls. Can Rolly and Aurora outsmart fate and find their happily ever after?

Thursday evening, brings another FREE Summer Concert to the Park with a performance celebrating Juneteenth by Kid Creole & The Coconuts tribute band "I am your Daddy Band." This group delivers a sophisticated fusion of Jazz, Latin, and Soul that captivates every audience! Whether you're a longtime fan of the iconic "Kid Creole & The Coconuts" vibe or experiencing this unique "Tropical Funk" sound for the first time, this band offers an unforgettable show that transcends generations.

You can also celebrate Juneteenth on the day itself—this Friday, June 19! Bethesda African Cemetery Coalition's Annual Juneteenth Celebration will take place in the Bumper Car Pavilion, with African food, dance, music, history, poetry, and free ice cream. Or join the Washington Revels Jubilee Voices for a celebration in collaboration with the Office of Historic Alexandria’s Division of African American History. This free concert—OFFSITE at Shiloh Baptist Church—honors the journey toward freedom and celebrates the spirit of Juneteenth through performances rooted in history and hope.

Once again, we're dancing all week long! Dance for PD® (Dance for Parkinson's Disease) continues, with free classes meeting each Wednesday. Saturdays, instructor Janee Murray of DC Rawhides teaches fun, beginner-friendly line dancing at DanceFit: Line Dancing classes. Interested in joining a Sunday afternoon Ballroom Social Dance? Learn the basics of ballroom dancing or improve your technique at a multi-level Ballroom Dance Workshop this Saturday, led by Ballroom Time instuctors Tom Hall and Min Zhang.

Friday night is a big dance evening with a Honky Tonk Dance with Dede & the Do-Rights in the Bumper Car Pavilion, a Contra Dance with Friday Night Dancers in the Spanish Ballroom, and a Salsa & Bachata y más! in the Ballroom Back Room. There's a dance style for everyone!
