We're dancing away the cold this week with a hot new social dance series! Plus, check out programming in our exhibitions & galleries, children's theater, dance classes, and a sneak peek of our upcoming Spring & Summer classes.


💃 We've got a brand NEW Dance Series coming your way: Back Room Salsa Nights! Join us every third Friday in the Ballroom Back Room for a sizzling hot night of Salsa. This Friday is our first event! We'll start with a one-hour beginner lesson (free with the price of admission) with instructors James Robertson and Tracy Perez followed by dancing with DJ Chapibol. No need to bring a partner. All levels welcome, ages 18+!


Check out a DanceFit for Body & Mind class with two active dance styles to pick from! On Saturday mornings you can join us for a Shake Your Soul class with Katy Baytosh, back by popular demand. On Monday evenings, join us for a new Line Dance class with Gizelle Merced. It's the perfect opportunity to try something new and get your body moving!


Weren't able to make it to the opening receptions in the galleries last weekend? You can still visit three new exhibitions in the Partnership Galleries, open until February 16. Be sure to stop by the Photoworks Gallery to view The Colors of Life by the Exposure Group, open until March 2.


If the snow and cold has you longing for summer, families looking forward to the warmer months can get a head start on planning summer activities with a special preview of the Summer Camps section of our upcoming Spring/Summer 2025 Catalog. Be ready when registration opens February 5.

National Parks Along the Potomac

Social Dance

Our fun and affordable social dances are open to the public with no prior experience or partner required. When we say we offer something for everyone, we're not kidding! Styles range from folk, blues, and contra to waltz, swing, tango and ballroom ... and more!


New dancers are always welcome, and a pre-dance, introductory lesson is included with admission. Most dances feature live music by renowned local and national bands.

Explore the Painting Process

A unique workshop where we look at Richard Diebenkorn's cryptic "notes to myself on beginning a painting," pondering what he meant by his enigmatic instructions. Focus is on abstraction, but participants can explore any modality of artmaking that they wish. All levels.

Upcoming: Dragons Love Tacos

February 7 - March 30 | Adventure Theatre MTC


You know what Dragons really love? Tacos of course! A boy and his dog are watching a TV show about dragons when they unexpectedly get caught up in the ‘Dos and Don’ts’ of what to serve to dragons to eat. Dragons love tacos, but if they accidentally eat spicy salsa…watch out!

Upcoming: Peter and the Wolf

Follow Peter, a courageous and naïve boy on his quest to catch the Wolf against the wishes of his grandfather and his animal friends of the woods. This production will incorporate the classic music in this two-person small marionette romp.

High School Artists Learning to Draw and Paint

This class focuses on high school students and beginner adults. Learn basic painting techniques, color-mixing, composition, form, and observational skills. Paint the still-life, self portraits and the figure. There will be an emphasis on an expressive and direct approach to observational painting that combines accuracy and dynamism. With the focus on building a portfolio of artwork. All levels.
