Greetings!

Looking for a fun and fulfilling activity this week? Stop by Glen Echo Park to catch a children's theater show, attend a social dance, visit a gallery, or take a class. There's something for everyone to enjoy when you visit the Park!

This weekend offers a few great ways to stay active! DanceFit for Body & Mind returns this Saturday for fall and winter. Join us for a favorite DanceFit class: Shake Your Soul with instructor Katy Baytosh. Drop into any or all of our Saturday morning dance fitness classes. Register early for an early bird discount, or grab a 10 Class Package to save! You can also check out National Parks Along the Potomac, a four-mile guided history hike on Saturday morning, starting at our carousel and stopping at the C&O Canal National Historical Park, Union Arch Bridge, and Clara Barton House.

Check out two new exhibitions in the Park's Visual Arts Studios & Galleries. Saturday evening, we hope you'll be our guest at an Opening Reception for Planetary Computation, a photography exhibition by Ashton Reeder, the 2025 Artist-in-Residence at Photoworks. Based on Oscar Wilde’s famous fairy tale about a giant who learns it’s never too late to share, the production features lathe-turned wooden marionettes. A review in DC Theater Arts called the show a "rare treat." This production closes on Sunday, so don't miss your chance to visit the garden!

Read on for more about these and other happenings this week, including upcoming classes, exhibitions, and social dances. We can't wait to see you at the Park soon, and as always, we appreciate your support!

The production features lathe-turned wooden marionettes. The puppet’s simple wooden surface is left so children can use their imagination. The hair is made of rope, the eyes of shiny brads. The string puppet children are round and smooth while the Giant is boxy and rough. The musical show contrasts selfishness and sharing. How does a Selfish Giant learn to share?
