Greetings!

Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Sunday at Echo Arts Festival and ECHO VISION. We had a wonderful time closing out the summer with a celebration of our arts community. This week, we move into a month filled with fall programming!

It's a great week to see a children's theater show! Opening this week at Adventure Theater MTC, Not Your Mother’s Goose! is a high-energy, laugh-out-loud romp through Gooseville, where nursery rhymes come to life—and fall apart in the most delightful way.

Friday night, two-step the night away at a Partnership-presented Honky Tonk Dance with live music by Rusty Sal. A sure-fire good time for lovers of classic country, Rusty Sal is made up of all-star cast of Baltimore Americana musicians. No prior experience needed and you don't need to bring a partner.

Start your weekend off with a DanceFit: Shake Your Soul class. For the month of October, classes will meet in the Hall of Mirrors Dance Studio. You can drop in to any or all of these Saturday morning dance fitness classes. Plus, it's your last week to save with the 10 Class Package deal!

On Saturday morning, take a journey through time with a Glen Echo Park Civil Rights and History Tour. Join a National Park Service (NPS) ranger on a free 45-minute walking tour and hear stories from the Park's history, including the 1960 civil rights protests to desegregate Glen Echo Amusement Park.

It's a big weekend for art enthusiasts! Saturday morning, check out an online Artist Discussion with Mark Karnes, a painter whose work has been widely exhibited both nationally and internationally and can be found in numerous private and museum collections. Later we'll welcome new exhibitions to the Park's Visual Arts Studios & Galleries with a series of opening receptions on Saturday evening. In the Yellow Barn Gallery, artist Holly Buehler presents Harmony & Heart, a solo painting show open this weekend only. In the Stone Tower Studio, visiting artist Erin Raedeke showcases painting works. Three new exhibitions also open in the Partnership Galleries: Jen Hudson and Bonnie Zuckerman present Wildwood Wonders in the Stone Tower Gallery, Rebecca Doran and Stacy Smith Evans present Parallel Paths in the Park View Gallery, and Comic Relief, a juried group exhibition opens in the Popcorn Gallery.

Music lovers, check out two OFFSITE performances by Glen Echo Park Resident Artists. Saturday afternoon, Washington Conservatory of Music's Pressenda Chamber Players present a concert at Cleveland Park Congregational United Church of Christ. The Washington Revels Heritage Voices will perform at DACOR Bacon House on Sunday afternoon.

Sunday afternoon brings a Sarau de Samba to the Ballroom Back Room! Co-presented with EducArte, renowned local Brazilian performers Pablo Regis, André Coelho, and Mariana Triginelli lead this Rio de Janeiro style music and dance event. Each session starts with a beginner dance lesson and is open to people of any skill level, no partner or instruments required.

Read on for more details about these events plus other happenings this week, including upcoming classes, exhibitions, and social dances. We can't wait to see you at the Park soon, and as always, we appreciate your support!
