Hi Jenni,

Thank you to all who joined us a the Park last week! Whether you were browsing galleries at Art Walk in the Park, riding the carousel and enjoying performances at Carousel Day, taking a class, attending a social dance or children's theater production, or just enjoying a beautiful day at the Park, we hope you enjoyed your visit. As we move into a busier season of events, there's a lot to look forward to this week!

A returning favorite DanceFit class, Bollywood & Bhangra is back on Saturday mornings! Perfect for ages 10+, join instructor Smita Khari for this introduction to two distinct Indian dance styles. Bollywood & Bhangra classes in May include an optional performance opportunity at a brand new Park event: Global Rhythms!

If you weren't able to attend Art Walk, never fear! Visual arts studios & galleries are open every week at the Park. This weekend is your last chance to catch Ready for It, a student exhibition at Photoworks, closing on Sunday. Saturday morning, tune in virtually to Stone Tower Studio's Art Clinic Online (ACO) virtual Artist Discussion with Eric Celarier, a DC based artist whose current exhibition Evolving Worlds (collaborating with sound artist Anne Burson), is on view in the Stone Tower Gallery until June 1.

Celebrate the art of puppetry at the Puppet Co. with their Saturday evening Popcorn Puppet Slam, a puppet celebration for adults! And it's also your last chance to catch Jeghetto’s Workshop, an interactive production with guest artist Jeghetto’s Entertainment, closing this Sunday.

Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, check out a variety of musical celebrations!

Saturday afternoon, join in on the fun of Sarau de Samba!  Co-presented with EducArte, monthly Sarau de Sambas are a celebration of rich Afro-Brazilian samba tradition and culture, where the infectious rhythms of Rio de Janeiro come alive through live music, dance, and food, and joyful participation.

Sunday evening, join resident artists of the Washington Conservatory of Music (WCM) for an offsite concert with the Pressenda Chamber Players, WCM's Ensemble in Residence. Pressenda Chamber Players is a chamber music ensemble featuring strings, piano, and guest artists.

Presented by the Institute of Musical Traditions, join ilyAIMY and Ayreheart for a concert that spans hundreds of years of music, from heart-achingly beautiful ballads sung by singer/songwriter Heather Aubrey Lloyd in Old Scots to epic modern compositions inspired by Frank Herbert’s Dune with a couple of Led Zeppelin covers to round it all out.

You can support all of these wonderful arts & culture programs, while enjoying an enchanting evening out our May 17 Gala in the Park: A Midsummer Night's Dream. This fundraiser event is a party to remember, all in support of the Park you love!

Read on for more of this week's happenings, including upcoming classes, exhibitions, and social dances. We can't wait to see you at the Park soon, and as always, we appreciate your support!
