Dance for PD®

In collaboration with Dance for PD® (Parkinson's Disease), the Glen Echo Park Partnership presents a pilot Dance for PD® class series. Registration is not required, participants can drop in to class anytime. These classes are free for participants, care partners, and family members thanks to the generous support of the program's donors. This week's class will be taught by Certified Dance for PD teacher Lucy Bowen.

Shadow Girls Cult & Puppet Pants Marionettes Double Feature

Aesop's Fables

Opening April 24 | Adventure Theatre MTC

A vibrant, theatrical adventure that brings timeless tales to life with wit, warmth, and whimsy! Adapted by acclaimed playwright Mike Kenny, this fast-paced production features a lovable troupe of traveling storytellers who use humor and imagination to retell five classic fables: The Tortoise and the Hare, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, The Wind and the Sun, The Lion and the Mouse, and The Wolf and the Jackdaw.

Volunteer Day at Glen Echo Park

April 25 | 9:00am - 12:00pm | Throughout the Park

Help with some spring cleaning around Glen Echo Park on our first annual Volunteer Day! Volunteers will help with landscaping, removing invasive species, and cleaning tables and chairs as we get ready for the carousel season. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and light refreshments. Rain or shine, families and groups are welcome! Any volunteers 12 or younger must be accompanied and work alongside a parent or guardian.

DanceFit: Shake Your Soul

Experience the JOY of dance through Shake Your Soul, a dynamic movement practice that energizes your body, relaxes your nervous system, and awakens your soul. Drop-in to a class, pre-register, or consider buying a 10 class package to save on your favorite fitness series! Due to capacity, a limited number of registrations will be available in advance and at the door. Please bring shoes that have not been worn outside, as street shoes are not allowed on the dance studio floor.

Carousel Day

Join us (rain or shine!!) for a festival event in celebration of Glen Echo Park's 105-year-old Dentzel carousel as it opens for the season! In addition to riding the carousel ($2 per ride or $5 for an all-day pass), visitors will enjoy many FREE activities throughout the Park, including performances, hands-on art projects, open studios & galleries, and more!

Nowhere Men feat. The Wildflower Frequency

May 2 | 7:30pm | Spanish Ballroom

Come join us for an evening concert (with room to dance!) at the Park. Enjoy music from Nowhere Men, a Beatles tribute band, with opener The Wildflower Frequency. Nowhere Men are an acoustic quartet of guitars, bass, percussion, and lots of singing! Based out of NOVA, NM pride themselves on reproducing the vocals of the Beatles. Praline Cafe will be open, with snacks & drinks available, including beer & wine.

Meet the Band Organ

May 3 | 10:30am - 11:00am | Dentzel carousel

On the first Sunday of each month during carousel season, the carousel building will open 30 minutes early to give visitors a chance to see the Park's Wurlitzer 165 Military Style band organ up close. This historic instrument was installed in 1926, so we're celebrating it's 100th birthday this year!

BUMPER CAR SQUARES

May 3 | 2:45pm - 5:30pm | Bumper Car Pavilion

Join us for Sunday afternoon square dancing at the Park! We'll start out with a square dance intro lesson for all skill levels from 2:45pm - 3:00pm. Then, a caller will lead a rousing square dance to live music live music from the Rhys Jones Trio. The band will play from 3:00pm - 5:30pm so get ready for square dancing fun that still gets you home early. We'll dance in the covered, open air Bumper Car Pavilion, which has industrial fans and overhead radiant heaters, ready for rain or shine, hot or cold.

Tiny Tots
