Greetings!

We have exciting news to share: The State of Maryland has pledged $1.5 million for restoration and improvements of the Spanish Ballroom (to add to their commitment last year of $1.5M)! We now have $3M committed from the State to match Montgomery County and National Park Service (NPS) funds for the project. With this critical funding in place we are ready to move into the design phase led by the NPS. We are so grateful for the State of Maryland’s continued support of this historic venue that brings so much joy to dancers and other visitors all year long. Our thanks to Governor Wes Moore, and our own MD District 16 delegation (Senator Sara Love, and Representatives Korman, Wolek, and Woorman for their advocacy).

It's a jam-packed week at the Park, with plenty of activities to pick from—and we haven't even gotten to our spring & summer special events yet! Stay tuned for next week's newsletter to hear all about the Carousel Day festivities we've got planned. We can't wait!

We're dancing into another wonderful week! Dance for PD® (Dance for Parkinson's Disease) continues, with free classes meeting each Wednesday at the Park. Saturday morning DanceFit: Shake Your Soul classes welcome all movers and music lovers. And, of course, we have a wonderful line-up of social dances this week, including a Ballroom Dance with Ballroom Time and a Sarau de Samba with EducArte. DC Lindy Exchange will present dances throughout the weekend as part of DCLX 2026: Shout and Feel it! with a special preview dance to live music on Thursday: PRE-CLX with Capital Blues. Saturday brings a new workshop to the Park: Nightclub Two Step with instructor Reginald Kapteyn. Check out the full week's schedule on our dance calendar!

And check out productions in the Park's resident theaters! Wednesday brings a special adult (ages 18+) double feature to the Puppet Co. Shadow Girls Cult & Puppet Pants Marionettes is an evening of thoughtful, mind-bending, and whimsical marionettes and shadow puppetry. For the whoe family, opening Friday at Adventure Theatre MTC is Aesop's Fables, a vibrant, theatrical adventure that brings timeless tales to life with wit, warmth, and whimsy. Plus, tickets are on sale now for The Forest of the Witch, a Turkish shadow theatre show presented by Puppet Co. guest artist US Karagoz Theatre Company.

Saturday and Sunday, stop by the Yellow Barn Gallery to view a weekend exhibition by Joanie Grosfell. It's also the final weekend to catch three shows in the Partnership Galleries. Bryan Jernigan's Sound of Line in the Park View Gallery closes Saturday and Nicole Maloof Twomey's 180 - 300 in the Stone Tower Gallery closes Sunday. In the Popcorn Gallery, the 2026 Yellow Barn Studio Instructors Exhibition will have a closing reception on Sunday afternoon. Plus, save the date for new exhibitions, open studios, and art demos at Art Walk in the Park!

Help with some spring cleaning around the Park on our first annual Volunteer Day this Saturday! Volunteers will help with landscaping, removing invasive species, and cleaning tables and chairs as we get ready for the carousel season. All volunteers will receive a free t-shirt and light refreshments. SSL hours available!

Read on for more details about these events plus other happenings this week, including upcoming classesexhibitions, and social dances. We can't wait to see you at the Park soon, and as always, we appreciate your support!
