COMMENTARY

Bill C-21, Justin Trudeau’s attempt to rationalize confiscating rifles and stopping legal handgun sales, passed first and second readings in the Senate, but it still hasn’t been referred to committee.

This gives us another opportunity to reach out to provincial senators, as well as those on the Standing Senate Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans Affairs (SECD), to voice our opposition to Bill C-21.

Four months ago, Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh conspired to shut down parliamentary debate on Bill C-21. They passed a motion requiring the House of Commons Committee on National Security and Public Safety (SECU) to ram the bill down Canadians’ throats in 48 hours or less.

The Conservative team on SECU, led by MP Raquel Dancho, CPC Shadow Minister for Public Safety, fought valiantly to improve Bill C-21, but every Conservative amendment was defeated by the Liberal/NDP coalition.

Bill C-21 then went to the Senate, where Justin Trudeau “encouraged” senators to rubber-stamp it into law before Summer Recess.

That didn’t happen.

With both Parliament and the Senate back in session this fall, Bill C-21 sits dormant, as more pressing issues appear to take centre stage.

We can’t count on all of Justin Trudeau’s self-inflicted wounds to derail this horrible bill.

Yes, his own government’s gross missteps in recent months have distracted Trudeau from his assault on Canada’s safest citizens, but that won’t last.

Bill C-21 was never about “keeping Canadians safe” from violent criminals.

Neither Justin Trudeau nor Jagmeet Singh care about stopping violent, repeat offenders from maiming or killing ordinary Canadians.

If they did, they would listen to firearm owners, hunters, sport shooters and police officers. They would adopt measures to focus Bill C-21 on criminals instead of RCMP-vetted and federally-licensed firearm owners.

The Liberal/NDP coalition doesn’t care about preventing domestic violence or keeping women safe when leaving abusive relationships.

If they did, they would listen to the many voices at committee who expressed their opposition to Bill C-21’s proposed red- and yellow-flag laws.

Bill C-21 is horribly flawed, no matter what side of the debate you’re on. Advocates from all sides agree on this.

Yet Justin Trudeau and the lapdog keeping him in power, Jagmeet Singh, refuse to listen to any of them.

They think they know best and will ram their absurd measures down our throats, no matter what anyone else thinks.

This means the Senate is our last hope to bring common sense back into this discussion.

All it takes for bad laws to pass is for good men and women to do nothing to stop them.

Remind your senators of this when you write them and ask for their help to stop Bill C-21.

If you’re not sure what to write, please use one of these template letters and modify it to reflect your natural way of speaking.

For even greater impact, take a few minutes to hand-write your letter to your Senators. Use the templates above as your starting point and make your appeal personal.

Our fate and the fate of the future of hunting and sport shooting is in our hands.

All we have to do is write one letter.

Please write your senator(s) as well as the members of the Senate’s SECD Committee and ask for their help to keep this terrible bill from becoming law.

Some day your grandchildren will thank you for this small act of courage taken today.

Subject: Have Your Say

Your latest poll asks the question:

Is Trudeau’s single-minded focus on gun owners causing other violent crimes to grow?

This reminds me of the final paragraph in the research book Firearms Control, by Inspector Colin Greenwood of the West Yorkshire Constabulary, UK.

Insp. Greenwood closes with this:

"To continue with the process of attempting to deal with the criminal use of firearms

by placing more restrictions on legitimate users is not likely to achieve anything. But

the great danger lies, not in the ineffectiveness of such restrictions, but in a belief that they will solve the problem. Whilst this mistaken belief persists, the real problem will not receive the attention and action which it clearly and urgently requires."

It is worth noting that prior to starting his research, Insp. Greenwood also believed in the usual restrictions on the lawful owner.

Best regards,

Dean R.

Subject: Gun control and freedom of speech tyranny in our system

Canadians.

Please get a back bone. Vote this controlling, we know what’s good for you bunch of dictators out on their ear. This Liberal government is hell bent on destroying our democracy. They intend, systematically take away over time and in small unnoticed amounts, our rights to several important freedoms least of which is the right of Canadians to own guns. I am not a gun owner myself, but I stand against a government that decides for its citizens what they can and cannot do. Crime is carried out by people who purchase their guns and ammunition from illegal dealers.

We are in danger of losing our freedom of speech. If you don’t believe this, just look at the way our news media has been manipulated. We have opinions from journalists, not facts.

No one holds these decision makers accountable. For instance, when we have a leader like Mr. Trudeau announcing that the Communist Chinese government is high on his admiration gauge and not one newspaper challenged his views.

Professor Jordan Peterson is feeling the dark side of speak control right now. These tyrants are out to silence him for his actions and views. They threaten browbeat to shut him down. They intend to MAKE HIM use pronouns as it refers to the transgender people. He has never said that if asked, he would not use a preferred pronoun by a transgender. In fact, he has always said in such a circumstance he would comply with the request. What he will not do is be dictated to by these language bullying controllers.

The Andrew Lawton Show | Liberals scapegoat Anthony Rota for honouring Nazi veteran

All parties in the House of Commons have now called for House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota to resign, with some sources saying he is likely to step down this afternoon.

Also, in the 28 months since the Liberals enacted an order-in-council banning 1500 types of firearms, Canadian gun businesses have been saddled with huge amounts of inventory that they can’t sell or return, with the government’s promised “buyback” program nowhere to be seen. Wes Winkel from the Canadian Sporting Arms and Ammunition Association joins The Andrew Lawton Show to discuss the effect of Trudeau’s gun grab on these Canadian small businesses.
